Two Under 2

Survived flying solo with my 2u2

Just got home and it wasn't too bad. 4 flights total and overall it went well although my toddler did meltdown during the second flight (first time ever for her even though she had been on 15+ flights before).

I had my double stroller with infant seat on it, my moby wrap for the baby, my purse (that doubled as diaper bag) and my small wheeled suitcase to which I attached my toddler carseat (she was in her carseat during the flights).

It was very manageable although going through security was a bit of a pain having to take everything apart, laptop and baby food/water out and such.

I think next time I'll check the toddler carseat and let her fly on the big seat (not sure if I want here "mobile" on the plane though... she does well sitting in her own seat) And I'll also leave the small suitcase behind. I'll just bring a backpack and probably an easier carrier like a Mei Tai or ring sling so it's easier/faster to put on and take off plus my baby is getting to big for the wrap and I don't like it as much.

Anyway, it's not so bad :)

  • I'm so glad you reported back!  And also glad to hear it went so well for you.  I'll be flying in May and will be solo on the return flight (arranged to fly one way with my sister along to help) - hopefully our trip will go as well!

Have you heard of/seen the GoGoKidz Travelmate?  That's what we use to fly with DS's convertible seat - it's a platform thing with wheels that turns your car seat into a stroller of sorts.  Super handy and much easier to take a seat along that way!

  • Thanks for reporting back...

I hope my flight home in May with the kids will be as smooth as yours.. I'll take your advice of skipping the carseat but I think I'll still bring a wheeled suitcase.. I seriously cannot imagine bringing a backpack for my 24 hours flight..

Thanks once again! :) You're awesome..

  • Wow, that is amazing! Kudos to you for doing it all by yourself!
