Confusing messages

Of course, my agency didn't send out our updated homestudy until yesterday, despite all my pleadings.  The anger and hurt and disappointment I have in them cannot be overstated.  I am so over them.

I did speak with my social worker today, to find out if they were going to get us any of the other information we requested about M and if she found out if Peru will consider our request at the March matching session even without our updated paperwork.  She mentioned that our in-country lawyer said that ordinarily, all the Peruvian authority needs to consider a family at the matching session is the request letter and the psychological addendum (both of which we have submitted).  He also said that in our case, however, "they are likely to require" the updated paperwork from US Immigration, just to ensure that we could bring the child home.  Neither of us know for sure if that means they'll require it before considering us for the referral, but she is interpreting that to mean that they will consider our request at the end of this month, but we'll have to submit the paperwork before we travel.

She also said that although an Italian family did request his file in mid-January, to the best of our lawyer's knowledge, no one else has submitted a request to parent M at this time.  Our lawyer has been wrong about whether there have been requests made in the past, so we'll take that with a grain of salt.  I'm particularly nervous that it's an Italian family, since they get the most referrals, but I also know there are more Italian families approved than families from any other country, so I'm trying not to let it bother me too much.

So it sounds like it might be good news?  All I know is that my heart will remain a big lump in my throat until March 30th.  I'm starting to get more attached, and it's terrifying!
