how's daylight savings treating you?

Not to jinx it, but it hasn't seemed that bad. We did have to make it darker in his room at night so he can sleep though.

Re: how's daylight savings treating you?

  • excellent! he's back to sleeping until 7am like he did before the time change in the fall. I just hope this lasts!

  • I think the other time change is harder. We adjusted by 10mins a day the week prior so she's mostly going OK going to bed, although it's pretty light despite the fact that we have dark wood blinds and dark heavy curtains. But it breaks my heart to wake her up every morning b/c she'd clearly rather be sleeping. I'm hoping she'll sleep in on Sat but of course by then she'll be used to being up at 6am and will probably wake up even earlier.

what did you do to darken the room?

  • It's actually gone fine (knock on wood). He had a crappy night Sunday, but I don't think it was time related. Last fall was a freakshow that started months of sleep issues, so I'm pretty happy about this.
    The DC Nest. Winers welcome.

Ha! Currently we have to fleece blankets hanging over top of the curtains/blinds that are already there. I'm thinking about doing blackout curtains but can't decide if I should buy them or try to make them.

  • No issues here.  I think it helped that we had a houseful of people over the weekend and she was so tired and overstimulated by the time they left on Sunday that all she wanted to do was sleep.  We put in those cellular blinds in her room thinking they would provide some measure of darkness, they really don't.  I think the blanket method will get some use as the days grow longer.
  • Maggie is staying up later which worries me but it really isn't a problem.  She stays in her crib but she just sings/plays longer than usual before falling asleep.  For some reason her being up at 9:30PM bothers me more than her being up until 8:30PM.  I know it will work out since I still have to get her up at 6:30AM.

Molly is doing fine too.  She was in the midst of an ear infection so I was already rocking her for hours at night to get her to stay asleep.  Last night was finally back to normal so I think she missed that there even was a time change.

Overall much better than the fall time change when Molly was younger.

  • DD seems to be doing pretty well, though her six month appointment was Monday and that threw everything off. I don't think she's been really affected by DST; except for Monday night, she actually went to sleep at the same time as always.
