Long torso?

Is it true that if you have a longer torso you may or may not feel kicks/movements as often than smaller torsos?

Re: Long torso?

  • No, not that i know of.  I have a long torso and I feel my baby roll, kick, punch, etc all the time.  I can see it move around all the time too.

  • I have a very very long torso and I've felt E move quite frequently.  And on Sunday night (27 weeks 3 days) DH and I watched my belly lurch in all directions as Baby was just playing or something.

  • Oh.  I guess my LO isn't much of a mover.  I do feel him but I'd like to feel him more.  Well now I'm worried.
  • I am 5'10" and have equally long torso and legs, I feel kicks constantly and have been since week 21
  • I am 5' 10" with a long torso and feel kicks and movement. I haven't however experienced the rib jabs.
  • If feel tons of movement, sometimes more than I would like... my little one loves to try and punch the mattress when I'm laying on my side.

  • Do you know if you have an anterior placenta or not?  That is what would determine when and how intensely you will feel the movement.  I have one and didn't really feel super intense kicks/movement until I was past 30 weeks...I felt her before then, but like I said, not as intensely.

I haven't been told if I do.  I also should have mentioned that I am plus size too.  Would that make a difference?

Me too. Exactly.  Your baby probably just isn't as active...which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

  • Keep in mind that most of the replies you got (with the exception of one) are several weeks further along than you too! I have a long torso and didn't feel baby move until about 22 weeks. I feel movement regularly so I'm not worried, but some days it's more than others. And it's also still quite a bit of the 'fluttery' feeling, though I do get a few good kicks here and there. Never anything painful or uncomfortable though. In 10 weeks I'm sure we'll both be feeling a lot more!
