Dr prescribed me antibiotics. Anyone else have this? I don't want to take medicine and am trying to stall it hoping it will go away. If you are taking medicine, which one? So annoyed!
I was on Ceftin 2-3 weeks ago with a hefty dose (1 gram) of Ancef! Don't fight it, just take it. Seriously, if yours gets as bad as mine got, I wish I had started taking it sooner. Drink cranberry juice it helps too. Don't want to get a kidney infection too. Hope you feel better soon.
If your doctor prescribed you antibiotics then I would take them. You don't want the UTI to turn into a serious bladder or kidney infection and be landed in the hospital. I took antibiotics for a sinus infection earlier in my pregnancy and everything is fine with LO.
Random: My sister told me that you should lean forward when you pee to make sure you flatten your bladder as much as possible to get all the urine out. Might help prevent future UTI.
I agree with PP i would take antibotics, UTI can turn nasty quickly.
I have a nasty cold which normally I think my doctor would just have me wait it out but he said with baby time coming up fast he wants the cold out of me asap..so he prescribed me an antibiotic.. when your laid up a cold can easily turn into pneumonia..I should add I will be getting a repeat c-section.. I was sick with a cold with my first and it almost was pneumonia..I say just take it the sooner any infection is gone the better!!
I was on penicillin for a UTI turned into a kidney infection.. DON'T WAIT to take your antibiotic.. you can do serious damage to your kidneys if it gets too bad
The first round was Nitrofur 100mg (Bid) Cap Mylan -- aka Macrobid
The second was Phenazopyrid 200mg.
The Macrobid I ended up being very allergic to. I took it for 3days and ended up in the ER.
They then gave me the Phenazopyrid for 5days and that took care of the UTI.
I have to say, I HATE meds, too. I refuse to take anything unless absolutely nec. My OB is on board with this so it makes my life much easier.
But, with a UTI you REALLY need to take meds. It won't go away by itself and will only get worse and could affect your kidneys which is very serious. My SIL was in the hospital a couple times for UTI's for her 1st pregnancy and was very sick.
So please take your meds. You'll feel 1000x's better in a few days!
I was put on ammoxicillin. (sp?) The nurse said that if untreated, UTIs and kidney/bladder infections can lead to pre-term labor. You don't wanna mess around with them during pregnancy.
