Anyone else not have a schedule?

I desperately want DD to be on a schedule like her sister was. DD1 set her own schedule and was like clock work. DD2, however is so sporadic with naps and eating and it's starting to wear on me. She does go to bed at the same time each night, which is about the only thing she does.

  • SInce my schedule is all over the place - I work some days 8 to 4 and some days 2 to 10, my LO doesn't have a set schedule either.

  • I just follow his cues... a baby led schedule. Can be difficult at times, but for the most part works for us.
  • I'm right there with you. I tried to put DD on a schedule b/c I thought it would make her sleep better for naps, but it was virtually impossible to do. Now I just watch her cues. She eats at roughly the same time every day, and goes to bed and wakes up at the same time. But her naps are all over the place.

  • I am only now starting to get the twins down for a nap together each morning.  Until now someone was always nursing and someone was always sleeping but never together.  With DD#1, her nap is always 5.5 hours after she wakes up- since she wakes at different times.  The twins I always put down 3 hours after wake up.  One sleeps for  20 minutes, and the other for 30-40.  That's about as close to a schedule as we get.

It is frustrating b/c like you, #1 was so easy, set her own schedule, easy to keep up with.  With the twins, it's always been reactive, not proactive.  Hopefully spring will make it easier to have a schedule when we can always schedule an outing/walk/something.... good luck!

  • Thanks and great to know I'm not alone. It's hard to not compare #2 to #1 !!

  • We have two different schedules. I live 45 minutes from town and go in for errands, playdates, etc. about 2-3 times a week. On the days we go into town, we have one schedule and on days we are home, it is a different one.  Because of the inconsistancies, I definitely follow DD's cues.
  • We aren't on a schedule during the day but she does go to bed every night at 10 and sleeps til about 7am.  Sometimes I wish we had a schedule but I do love going with the flow.
