tax help needed fast!!!!

dh started an s corp on dec 14 2009. For most of the year he was self employed. Does he need to file for the s corp for 2009 even though the corp made no money in 2009. He says no I say yes.He thinks our personal return is finewe live in nj

  • I would file it.  The setup cost are still a deduction on the self employed income.  The IRS website is really good too.

    Just IMed DH who is a tax accountant. He says yes. Then again, I'm just a random bumpie, so my personal advice would be to call your accountant. Better safe than sorry!

    And the deadline was yesterday for S-Corps (3/15).

  • yes anything that happens during that year has to be reported...if you get married in dec or have a baby on new years eve...your considered married the whole year and the baby is a dependant the whole year

    This.  You can't just not file and say you made no money, the government won't believe you.  I would call the IRS tomorrow and just explain...they may let you still apply for an extension (with a fee).
