Where are you registering? Most places have them at least online I think. I bought mine from a local boutique store...they're the same price everywhere so it really doesn't matter.
BuyBuyBaby. I don't know if they are putting any near you, but they are putting one in Nashua, so that will be close enough for us. It's not listed on their website though, I just have seen the sign where they are putting it.
But, I would NEVER put something like that on my registry. It is one of those things that if you and DH can't/ won't pay for it, you just shouldn't get it. To me, It looks gift grabby and tacky to have something that expensive on a baby registry.

To each their own, I wouldn't do it because I know nobody would have bought it for me. But some families are different and some families like to go all out spending $$ on gifts (especially grandparents) so I don't see anything wrong with adding it to a registry.

I say go for it!
Agreed. I wouldn't do it either, but each family is different. This baby that we are having is the first grandchild on either side of the family (jncluding cousins and second cousins), so I wouldn't be surprised if we get lots of stuff, some items big ticket and others smaller. My mother actually offered to purchase my stroller for me. I just don't see the big deal with adding this on there if your family is the type that will buy a larger item.
And for what it's worth, to some people $600-700 on a baby shower gift isn't outrageous. It's all relative.

Ditto JillBean and m+j. You never know if people would do a group gift either. For two or three aunts to go together on, the price is not that bad, IMO.
UppaBaby's headquarters is in Rockland, MA. I have heard that you can go to the showroom and the strollers are available at a discount but they may or may not have the color you want. Again I have only heard this and have no idea what that discount would be.

Completely disagree.
What about the simple fact that you would add it in the event of a group of people pitching in for a big ticket item? Just because it's on a registry doesn't mean you would expect ONE PERSON ALONE to buy it.
Not to mention including it on there to qualify for the completion discount. You know, when you are given a bunch of gift cards and you and spouse come up with the difference to purchase it outright? That's just smart to include it.
Re: UppaBaby strollers -- where to register?
I registered for mine at buybuybaby.com

You can do Buy Buy Baby or a local baby store.

On Spit Brook, behind B&N. In the strip with Sports Authority and Shaws.. I believe it's where CompUSA used to be.
Last I heard from them (I emailed them) they plan to open at the end of March. We'll see!

Thanks everyone! I have registered for the stroller at Land of Nod, which is where I also registered for crib bedding.
