Anyone else only have 1 U/S?

I don't know why I thought I would get another U/S, but doctor confirmed that you only get one (1) at 20 weeks. I really wanted another one to see LO and find out what position he/she is in and how much he/she weighs. I'm pretty bummed I don't get another one

You didn't have an u/s to date your pg?

Thats odd....

I had one to date the pg, one about the 20 week mark and then I am having another one on Friday.

I may even have another one later on becuase I am having a c-section and he needs to know exactly how she is laying so he knows how to deliever her.

I am sorry you only got one u/s but I hope the time goes really quickly and you will have your lo in your arms....that way you can see your lo all day long Smile

Yeah I have heard the same thing on here from other people. It seems to vary from doctor to doctor. I know my office with a normal pregnancy does three - one to confirm the pregnancy, one at 20 weeks, and one at 36 weeks. I'm having growth u/s done as well so I'm getting additional.

I had one early on for dating purposes, but other than that, we only had our "big" u/s. If nothing is wrong, they don't do routine u/s at my OB's office. I'd like to see the baby again too, but since we're team green, it's probably better that we don't, haha.

Maybe if you ask they'll do one for you?

This.. My first appt I had one to make sure my dates were right then my "Big" one..

I thought you at least get two..

I had a third two weeks ago and will be having another next week though due to cervix issues and baby size..

I had one at the very beginning to see how far along I was - it was my first appt. to confirm I was PG. Then I had one at 20 weeks, I had one at 28 weeks to make sure everything was good at the begining of 3rd trimester and then I had another last week. That one was my last one until she comes unless complications arise, but all in all that makes 4 and most people I know had about 3 or 4 as well...guess it depends on the doctor though.

Me! well no, actually I had two. One at my first appointment to help determine my due date and my 20 week. I really hoped for more though, especially since I know of one practice around here that does them at EVERY appointment.

You generally only get one. That's all I've ever gotten. It's quite common and usually all insurance will cover unless there's a real medical need.

Besides, the measurements for growth are pretty inaccurate most of the time, and the doc can tell you if the baby is head down.

We only do 1 and its at 20 weeks to check for any abnormalities (not sex). I don't see the need to do any other. Your doctor/midwife can feel the positioning of the baby. As for the weight- those can be off by a lot. My sister was induce because she was told she had a big baby (silly reason to induce IMO) and low and behold my niece was only 7 lbs (an average baby).

I would have only had one at 20 wks but because my due date needed to be checked due to irregular periods they did one at 9.5 wks.

And now I'm measuring ahead so they are doing another one on the 24th.

ultrasounds are expensive for insurance or the patient to pay for, so just be glad you don't need one for medical reasons. i wish i was only having 1.

I would have only had 1 except that I had major cramping around 9 weeks and then I chose to do the NT Scan. I won't have any more unless complications arise. My OB will only do 1 unless they are concerned about something.

They are crazy expensive, so it's probably better. I know that the ones I've had will make me reach my maternity coverage "limit" a lot sooner than I should have.

I had my first US at 17wks, and was told there are usually two, but last doc visit she told me there wouldn't be another unless there were medical concerns.

The only reason I got another one was because I was in a car accident and the doctor had trouble finding the heartbeat. Scariest moments of my life. I don't think I breathed until I saw LO on the screen jumping around.

Doctors are so different! Mine does one at every other appointment. I've actually had 7 u/s so far! I would be bummed too. I'm sorry.

I think it all depends on your insurance and your provider. I do get more than one but I have heard of a lot of people that only get the one at 20 weeks.

They can tell position without an u/s and the weight thing is pretty pointless....its pretty inaccurate.

Some places give another one at 36 weeks to check growth/position. My OB did. Ask your doctor.

same here only one!!! But DH and I found a place that does ultrasounds and we go for our 4D next week and then closer to delivery we will go for postion and weight. I was super excited too because it is very affordable!
