Nurseries and Baby Gear

tacky to register for furniture and storage?

I'm fairly new to baby registries and I've only seen one person register for nursery decor and storage (rugs, bins, lamps, etc). Would you think it was tacky if someone registered for home items in addition to all the baby stuff?

  • My opinion is register for everything you need, as long as you are prepared to buy whatever you don't get. You never know what people might buy, and whatever they don't buy most places give a completion coupon if you want to purchase your items off the registry after your shower.

  • I don't think so at all. I registered for some decor items on my registry. I got a few things like wall hooks and a lamp but other than that I had to buy a lot of it.
  • I think if your think it is something that you would use for yourself and the baby then go for it.  I would rather by someone a hamper or walll art then another cute outfit that the baby will wear once. GL

  • It's totally fine.  And if anyone questions your taste or hints that it's tacky, just remind that person that you get a completion discount for any items that aren't purchased on your registry.  Then it just looks like you never expected anyone to get you furniture (since they probably won't), but you still get a percentage off when you buy it yourself.
