It doesnt kill you first!
Last night was night one and for 22 excruciating minutes Juliana cried and I stuck my face next to the faucet on high in the kitchen sink so I couldnt hear and bawled my eyes out. DH checked on her at 11 and 20 minutes and she went to sleep after that but MAN. OH. MAN. its tough stuff...here is hoping for a better night!! (Btw, this is our LAST resort after she gets up 4-5 times a night and we have tried EVERYTHING (literally) else!)

We're doing Ferber for naps (DS has always been a wonderful night sleeper) and it does get better crying wise after the first day. The first day of ferber naps was pure hell, the next day was better and each day improved with less and less crying. By day four there was no crying just a little fussing and lots of chatting. I will warn you of the possibilty that LO may after 5days go back to crying like the 1st day. DS did that but it only lasted about 2 days and then he went back to just chatting and slight fussing. GL!
You are doing the right thing. Don't you just love when people who have an opinion about your parenting choice feel the need to let you know when you have clearly not asked for it? Honestly, I don't understand why they even comment...you were clearly looking for support rather than a guilt trip. Good luck and like pp said, you are giving your LO the gift of sleep
It wasn't meant to be a guilt trip, thank you. I've seen alot of CIO posts on here and alot of the time their LO is still pretty young and waking up to eat... which is why I asked.
And to the poster... good luck! Hope it works for you.... I know how frustrating it is.
If it wasn't meant to be a guilt trip then I would avoid saying things like the following.
"I personally wouldn't ever CIO but definitely not that young. Just my opinion though."
I would guess this didn't make her feel all warm and fuzzy and supported. Just a thought...
I don't need to justify my comment to you but like I said.... it wasn't meant to make her feel guilty.
Yes, it will definitely get better. And you'll be amazed at how quickly she learns to put herself to sleep. I used to have to bounce DD for over an hour for naps and nighttime to get her to fall asleep and have to put her in her crib when she was completely sleeping or else all hell would break loose. Now I can put her down fully awake and she just falls asleep on her own. And at night, I can see on the video monitor that when she wakes up between sleep cycles, she is able to fall back asleep on her own. She is so much happier now that she is well rested.
And I also had to turn on the kitchen sink so I couldn't hear DD cry. It was definitley MUCH tougher than I ever thought it was going to be, but so worth it.
