D.C. Area Babies

nice swim club in the Del Ray/Alexandria area?

My daughter is 15 months old and we are looking for a nice swim club to join for the summer.  Does anyone know of any local clubs (Del Ray/Alexandria) that are good? TIA!

Re: nice swim club in the Del Ray/Alexandria area?

  • the closest one i know of is in the "alexandria" section of FFx County off Hollin Hills. we have friends who have been members for a long time...but i think there is a waiting list.

there are definitely no swim clubs in del ray and i don't think there are any in the city of alexandria.

FWIW, we frequent the public pool on Cameron in Old Town. it's clean and orderly and there is a separate pool for the small people. bonus, it's only a few bucks to get in!

ETA: there is also a pool at Chinquapin (next door to TC Williams) which you can pay to use or join as a member of the center, but it's an indoor pool (and the water is freezing and you can't use it on saturday mornings because of all the classes taught there).

  • Episcopal High School (Quaker and Seminary) usually has a summer pool membership but I don't think they have a baby pool.

I live in Del Ray and have a 15 mo old. There are outdoor pools at Landover Park (kiddie pool) and near the King Street Metro. These are city pools and pretty cheap to get in. There are indoor pools at the YMCA at Monroe, Sport & Health in Crystal City, and LA Fitness that's opening on N. Glebe and Route 1. These are going to cost you $60-$115 a month. There is also an indoor pool, like PP said, at Chinquapin, that is a city pool.
