3rd Trimester

Those who already had their shower

Did you get a lot of toys or pacifiers? ?They seem like things that people would buy on their own so I feel weird registering for them but i also don't want to get just clothes and such. Should I put them on there anyway or just trust that people like to buy cute baby things?

Ugh, the wedding registry was much easier (and at the time I thought that was hard!)?

Re: Those who already had their shower

  • Register for them!! Especially toys, we only got one toy! Everyone else got clothes and blankets, ugh.

  • I only got a few toys and no pacifiers!  The only toys I got, I had registered for.  I actually was shocked at how little clothes I got just because everyone always says you get soooo much.  I actually had to go out and buy a few things just to feel prepared for the first couple of months.  I would say if there's a specific toy or pacifier you want, put it on there!  It can't hurt.  Someone might buy it, they might not.  HTH!

  • We got a few stuffed animals/toys/cloth rattle thingies. I didn't register for any toys until the very end (and then I registered for an FP ring stacker and a Dwell fabric block set) because my registries were getting bought out quickly.

The only pacifiers we got were the ones we registered for.

  • I registered for pacifiers just because I prefer a specific type of paci.

  • I threw on two pacifiers and maybe three toys that I wanted to remember to get because I liked them and will buy them myself. I figured people could pick out toys just like clothes. The only clothes I put on were packaged onesies and gowns.

I agree - wedding registry  was much easier.

This. At our shower, the only toys and pacifiers we got were the ones we'd registered for.

  • I did not register for toys but I received some. I would register for everything you want and need so that your guests have options.

  • Glad that I asked! I will add some!
  • I got a few toys and a few pacifiers.  I'd say don't register for them.  Partially b/c I think it's a pain in the a$$ to buy those items off a registry (it's hard to find the exact ones that are scanned) and also b/c I'd rather have those little items to complete than bigger ticket ones.

We didn't have anything like that bought off our registry - they were purchased elsewhere or outside of it.  So, when we got a couple unneeded/duplicate items, we returned and used the store credit for pacis, toys and other little items.

  • People no longer want to buy pacifiers because people are so particiular about the ones that they will use.  I registered for two toys...got both but no more than that and I registered for 1 pack of pacis and thats all I got.  So yeah register for them if you want them.

  • Go ahead and register for them.  I got several toys, but they were all things we had picked out.  I'm not sure we would have gotten many otherwise.  I didn't register for pacifiers, but only because the ones I am planning to use (Gumdrop) are only available to be ordered from the manufacturer.  If I had planned to use a different type, I would have added them to the registry as well.
  • I got 4 pacifiers and no toys....  lots of clothes though....

  • If there are specific toys or pacis you really like/want, then definitely register for them.  Quite a few of the gifts at my shower came with a paci or small toy in the bow.  Maybe put some of the larger toys and playmat on there, and one or two pacis so people know which brand you prefer.

  • I got a ton of toys from one person, but they were second-hand (which is TOTALLY fine with me) from her toddler. She also got us a neat toy, the toy you see in doctors offices a lot. The one with wooden beads that they push on the wire. But I registered for a ton of toys and didnt really get any except one. So i say register for them, but dont be surprised if you dont get many.

  • I didn't get toys or pacifiers (toys were on my registry)- people got things on my registry or clothes (I didn't register for clothes b/c I knew I would get a variety of sizes and people like picking out baby clothes.

  • I did register for toys, because we had purchased sooo much of the stuff we needed already that our registries would have looked pathetic without toys on there.  I think they're probably going to be purchased first.  We've had 3 things purchased on each registry (6 total), and they're all the toys (well, 2 are hooded towels, but they are like play towels--elmo and cookie monster--and I considered them in the same category as "toys"--fun stuff).
  • I got a ton of pacifiers but only about 4 that I will be using. I registered for the Tommee Tippee paci's because I wanted those and therefore I received them. But, a lot of my friends bought a pack of pacifiers to go in with presents and there were tons on my diaper cakes...

If you want to use specific pacifiers, register for them. If you don't have a preference, I wouldn't.

I would also register for toys... I didn't and we only got one toy...

  • I registered for them just because I know it is something we will want and it gives people the option of something inexpensive if they want to throw a few things together rather than just a larger item. I got all the toys and pacifiers that I registered for by the way.

  • everyone's friends and family are different.  Mine are all strict registry people.  But instead of accenting gifts with blankets, or NB clothes, everyone got us bibs and 6-9 clothes.  Everyone tried to avoid the stereotypical norm.  So I have two outfits until he is in 6-9, and I really don't think I need 15 different bibs.......

register for everything.  Even if people are anti registry, it can help others with a starting off point of what you need.

  • We registered for toys and got them...only got a few we didn't register for.

  • I would say I got mostly clothes and blankets, but I didn't have a registry.  Register for them if you want them!

  • Had my shower this weekend and mostly got clothes. Adorable clothes, but TONS. Aside from that... a few bath towels and bath squirty things, a couple stuffed animals and no other toys. Got very few small "necessities," but a few big ones (jumparoo, bottle warmer, soundspa).
