I'm debating between taking childbirth classes at Isis Maternity in Needham, at NWH or through my doctor's office (Harvard Vanguard in Wellesley). They all offer the class I want (Prepared Delivery) and are roughly the same price. Just wondering if anyone has any feedback about any of these places? Thanks!
Re: Boston/MetroWest ladies - Where did you take classes?
I took a few classes at Isis, not the birthing one, and they were all great.
This was 2 years ago, so things may have changed by now, but...
I took the Prepared Childbirth class at Isis in Needham and thought it was great.
I took a breastfeeding class at Harvard Vanguard and really didn't get anything out of it. Overall, it was a waste of money.
I delivered at Brigham & Women's and they had a BF class there too. That one was slightly better but still not great. It may be far for you but South Shore hospital has a great lactation program if that is of interest to you.
Hope that helps.
the Isis BF class was great in my opinion if you decided to take the birthing one there this is another one to take. If you do get a membership, they offer some really great classes for when you have the baby and everything is discounted with the membership (including your purchases).
I'm planning on going to destination maternity in Natick (free) for BF and birthing classes. I was looking at HVMA ( I go there too) but dont want to spend the $. Alot of people have said destination maternity was perfect. You could try out the free classes and if you feel like you didnt get any info then go to ISIS or HVMA. The class is also taught by a nurse from Newton Wellesley.
Good luck
