3rd Trimester

When is too late for a 3D Ultrasound?

I'm still undecided to go for a 3D ultrasound or not.  When is too late to go?  I know most websites say 22 - 34 weeks.  I'm currently 34 weeks.  I know I'm running out of time, but is it pointless after a certain time since there's not much room in there any more?  Not sure what to do!!

Thanks!

  • I was told 32 weeks because it gets too tight and you can't see things.  I would call your place, see what they say and then get in there asap.

  • 34 weeks is really pushing it because the baby is so big you can't see a heck of a lot of detail.  I had a regular u/s at 36 weeks and watching the monitor I couldn't tell one thing fromm another even with the tech pointing things out - even her face!  I think you might have  hit the point where it is a little late unless you can get in immediately andeven then, it may be a waste.
  • We had one at 30 weeks and we were only able to see half of LO's face, since he was SOOO low and pushed up against my placenta/uterine wall.  He hasn't moved since- so no "good" 3D images for us....

  • I've had 3D ultrasounds at 31, 33, and 35 weeks for medical reasons. It looked pretty cramped in there, and we never got a good picture, even at her 31 week scan.

  • We were told save it for around 30-34w. We had one 33w and got amazing shots of her just being herself and all over the place. I think everyone is different it seems.

  • My sister had hers done at 34 weeks and she thought that was too late. The baby was all squished so you don't get the greatest pictures.
