How many oz of milk do you have frozen?

I'm going back to work next Monday ( ugh) and was just wondering how much milk you girls have frozen? I know I will be pumping multiple times a day at work and using that, but I wanted a decent freezer stash before I returned back. So far I have 84 oz.

  • to estimate if u have enough figure out about how many ozs LO will be eating and divide your storage amount by that. ex. if LO needs 8 ozs/day you've got about an 8.5 day lead.

i only have about 30 (having supply issues) and i go back in 2 weeks. cross your fingers for me.

  • I currently have 100oz frozen and still have 4 weeks until I return to work.
  • I have none and probably will have none when I go back in a month due to low supply.  Everything I pump goes back to her in supplements.

  • I had 350 oz & I think about 300 oz when I went back to work but I've got a crazy supply & get 40oz a day. Now I've worked bac up to 50 oz since my 350 went bad with excess lipase.
  • I probably have about 100 or so, but half of it is from before I knew Ds had a milk soy protein issue.  I'm not sure if I can use it or not.  I'm going to hang into it until when he gets older, but it may not be good or he still may not be able to handle it.

Indifferent  did not even think its possible!!!  WOW... im beyond impressed

I am bfing and pumping so im lucky if i get 6 oz a day... Crying

  • 84 oz is a good stash.  I am sure you will increase the amount if you keep up with the pumping schedule and nursing LO.

Right now I have 75oz.  I had 150 at one point but then I had a work trip and the supply went down.  I have the issue that I travel for work and DD still takes more than 30 oz a day on top of eating 3 meals.  So,I can't be gone more than 2 days.

  • One 5 oz bag, lol. But I am not going back to work for a few more months (and then just part time for a bit). Still, I need to get better about pumping so I can leave LO occasionally.

  • I am guessing somewhere between 1000-2000 ozs.  I EP and pump 40+ ozs a day, storing somewhere between 12-24 ozs a day.  I have already maxed out a small deep freezer and I am getting close to filling our refrig one too.  I have been back at work for almost 2 months now, but I don't use any of the freezer stash during the day.  We plan on using it once I stop pumping.  Instead I pump a day in advance for while she is with the nanny.  Goodluck with the freezer stash!

  • I have 650oz, I was hoping to have close to 1000 by the time I went back to work on the 31 but I will probably have closer to 800.  I am hoping to be able to stay a day ahead and not have to use my freezer stash until I stop BF but I don't know how pumping at work is going to go so I may have to use it just to stay afloat.

Ok, what kind of pump do you use? I get 3 - 5 ounces total each time I pump  and I thought I was doing well--I pump 3 times at work--usually enough for the 11 ounces LO takes at DC each day. I feel good about that. My freezer stash is adequate--it's not taking over my freezer, but I don't feel anxious about it either--I haven't counted. Y'all don't forget to rotate your freezer stash--critically important! I use 2 bottles of fresh BM for DD each day, while I freeze another 3 - 4 ounces and defrost the same amount for DD's first bottle at DC each day. Keeps your freezer stash from getting old. Also, I know DD is getting the correct nutrients she needs at that particular stage instead of an old combination of nutrients from months ago.

  • I have around 400 ozs. I had a little oversupply issue in the beginning from using the hospital grade pump while DD was in the NICU. I also pumped several times/day to get a stash built up. For the last month or so, I've not pumped much.

I had over 700 ozs in the deep freeze from DD#1 that never got used.

  • I have the Medela freestyle pump that I exclusively used up until 2 weeks ago. I also use a hosptial grade pump at work for the last 2 weeks. I only pump twice at work and I work anywhere from 8-12 hour days. When I started EP'ing, I was pumping 7 times a day. I slowly went from producing low 30's ozs a day to currently 40-45+ ozs a day. I currently only pump 4 times a day- 6am, 11am, 4pm, and 9pm. I started EP'ing at 3 weeks due to her being an ineffective nurser. Right now I am no using my freezer stash because I plan to completely wean in the next two months. I start a new job soon and won't be able to keep pumping. My original goal was pump till 4 months and have enough stored till 6 months. We are in limbo right now with continuing to pump but nowhere to freeze the excess. While my over supply is great for our freezer stash, I get very frequent clogged ducts. Goodluck with your stash!

I have about 200 ounces and will be going back to work in 4 weeks.

Now that I have a pretty solid supply, I haven't been as vigilant about pumping the last week or two, so I've only been getting about 5-10 ounces pumped a day.

  • I had around 150 oz. when I went back to work in January. I have around 450 now.

Did I need 150 oz when I returned to work? Not really. The freezer stash is more for emergency use (if I get sick have to be on medication, need to travel away from DS, etc.) than for using on a regular basis. I do make sure to rotate the milk so I don't waste any, though.
