Secondary IF

We have new faces around here:

Lets re-introduce!

I am Firsttogo!

I have PCOS, and tried for 18 months for DS1. The magic that worked was Bravelle, trigger, IUI prometrium.

We went back for another when DS1 was 6 months. Took 4 inj/iui cycles to get it right.

This one was an un-treated blessing.

I SAH with the boys, and we are poor because of it!

What is your story?

Re: We have new faces around here:

  • Hi!!!

I'm still a newbie around here.

I have PCOS and had primary IF as well as secondary.  It took us 2 years to conceive our twins and the magic for us was IVM (similar to IVF).  We always knew we wanted a big family so started TTC #3 almost right away.  Here we are almost two years later and not pregnant :(

I am a SHAM and absolutely love it!  I love my boys more than I can express and feel truly blessed with my life :)

Look forward to getting to know all of you!

  • I am MrsT.

Been TTC since March 2009. Currently on my 13th cycle, about to move into my 14th.

Tried Clomid for 2 months and had hyperovulation each time but no pregnancy.

Testing showed a fibroid taking up 75% of my uterus.  Surgery also revealed a great deal of scar tissue covering the fibroid and uterus.

OB is allowing 3 months of Clomid/monitoring before referring me to an RE.

We had success with IUI. but My RE wanted me to be in a study using IVM when we were ready for #3. He is a big supporter of it! I do not stim well because I have a tendency to Get OHSS.

  • That is exactly why my RE suggested IVM- I would overstimulate.  It worked great for us- pregnant the first time around.  We are looking to do IVM again next cycle- whenever that may start.  AF "should" have been here around the 11th.  Hopefully I won't need to wait much longer.
  • Firstlogo-

If you don't mind me asking- where do you live?  The reason I ask is because not many people are familiar with IVM and it seems that only a select number of RE's actually do the procedure.  If you would rather you can PM me.

    Thanks :)))

  • I am Hoping4more or H4M

I'm infertile. My DD came after awhile of trying, we were thinking of seeking a specialist but held off since at the time the closest was almost 2 hours away. Surprise she was conceived a few months later.

After her my body went wonky. I bled for 8 weeks, then didn't bleed again for months on end and then bled for 8 weeks and it continued like that for a year and a half until October 2007 when I hemmoraged bad (probable very early miscarriage, although I had an IUD) after that my periods stopped all together and that part of my body shut down.

We have been very actively trying for #2 since December 2008, 15 months now. We have been seeing the RE for the last 12 of those months. I'm clomid resistant, a late Oer, my DH has somewhat poor SA, and now I apparently make a poor lining. Joy!

I too have recently stopped my job search to stay home with my DD, she is done daycare April 1st. We too are poor because of my staying home (and IF and student loans)

  • Hi all.

We have been TTC since Feb 2009, we started ttc when DS was 4 months old.  He is currently 16 months.  It took us 2 1/2 years to conceive DS.  We have MFI with low everything.  We were able to conceive DS naturally (it was a miracle, since we were told there was less than a 1% chance of conceiving).  We are hoping the same thing happens again.  DH is doing chinese herbs, acupuncture, clomid, and zinc supplements.  He is really not into the idea of IVF even though I am.  I am trying to convince him that he should talk to his specialist about IUI and see if that is a possibility for us.  The first time around they said our only avenue was ICSI.

    I am a SAHM.

    Welcome all!!!

  • I am pretty new to this board.  I have been trying since 3/09 to get pregnant again (with two months off in the middle).  Not sure what the problem is, but I did get pregnant the second month of trying with DD.  I have type II diabetes but not PCOS.  So really shouldn't be an issue.  But, my cycle is now 25 days, so not sure if I have a short luteal phase or not.  Just called my OB today (waiting to hear back) to start looking into testing.  I will be 35 this year, and seeing as I will have diabetes the whole pregnancy this time (had GD with DD.  Super insulin resistant), I want to get my second babe and be done.  Glad to meet you all and hope this is a short journey for all of us!

  • Hi all,

    I am oneandonlyyou,

We have been TTC since September 2007 and as  you can see with no  luck, I have three beautiful children from a previous marriage.  We finally had an appointment with an RE. She is running another SA on DH cause she didnt like the first two he has had. He goes this Wednesday for that.  I am currently waiting for AF to show her ugly face so i can set up my cd3 bloodwork and cd10 bloodwork and US. She was due today but nothing so far.

I am a SAHM and love it. I am also in school studing healthcare management.

  • OU here and my magic was IUI round #3 but, the first round of injectables.

I come around to check on my buddies and answer questions based on my own experiences.  I wouldn't be in the position I am today without the knowledge that I gained from this board.

  • Hi everyone,

I am a SAHM.  We have been TTC #2 since Nov 2007.  After almost a year of trying, I went to my OB to see what was wrong (HSG, b/w, and SA).  We then saw a RE and did clomid alone, a couple months of clomid with IUI, and a cycle of clomid & inj with IUI.  None of those worked.  We took some time off and I went back to my OB for pains and she did an U/S that showed a cyst.  I had surgery in Nov to remove my left tube, but when she was in there she noticed endo on my right, so she removed that tube as well.  I have now been back to the RE and tried a cycle of meds for IVF, but didn't make enough follies.  I started seeing a acupunturist and he has me on some herbals and only doing acu the first 14 days of my cycle.  When my next AF shows up I will start my meds again and go back for more acu.  Crossing my fingers here that I make more follies next time.

  • Hi!

I'm bride526 (although I can't stand that name anymore, can you tell it's from theknot?:)

We are unexplained. All of my tests and my husbands tests come back normal. We tried for 2.5 years before we got pregnant with my son on our first injectible/IUI cycle. After having my son (and waiting 8 weeks) we never used protection because we figured it was unlikely we'd get pregnant, but thought it would be a nice surprise if we did. We didn't. Went back to the RE in July 2009 TTC#2 and did three injectible/IUI cycles, all of which failed. RE recommended we move onto IVF, since we are completely OOP for fertility treatments and meds we were waiting to hopefully be included in a study my RE was conducting. I received a surprise miracle BFP on 2-4-10 and am currently anxiously awaiting my 12 week appt. with the OB in 2 weeks.

I love this board, and always come back to check on the ladies and try to offer support!

  • I am amer19. We had no problem conceiving our ds. In fact I was on bcp. A year after I had him, they found an extremely large beign tumor that literally crushed my left ovary so they removed the tumor, fallopian tube, and ovary. They found smalI amount of endrometrosis on my right tube.I have also had cervical cancer in which they removed part of my cervix( that was before ds).

We have been ttc #2 for 8 months now. DH has low sperm count but my progestrone levels were excellent and I ovulate at the same time every month. I am currently a week late and went in for a blood test today. If I'm not pregnant, I have no clue what's wrong. I have never been this late and I'm having early pregnancy symptoms. But the hpts are saying negative. We'll see tomorrow!

  • I have highly insulin resistant PCOS and was on Depo for 8 years (never told that was too long as I was super young and under-educated at the time about the prolonged consequences of this drug). I have an almost-2 year old that took 30 cycles to concieve (read: cycles not months) which included high levels of Clomid, estrogen, trigger shots, progesterone and Metformin (which I've been on consistantly for 3 years without a break). My last month of Clomid I developed a rare but dangerous side effect of visual distrubances (floating images, tracers, flashing lights, etc) due to the Clomid and I'm not allowed to ever take it again risking blindness (due to my reaction level that still persists).

We've been actively trying for 15 months for #2 and fully medicated for 10 with no pg and weak ovulations. We've recently moved and will be visiting a new RE with, hopefully, a much better plan for #2!!!!

  • Iluvadam here!

I have severe endometriosis and PCOS.  The endometriosis has been very debilitating for me, aside from it just been difficult to conceive.  I have suffered with extremely painful cramps and heavy bleeding for the past 17 years.  I have had 3 lap procedures, all with a lot of laser ablation.  In the last lap I had in October, when the doctor went in, he found that the endo had become so bad that it had completely covered my appendix and twisted it around and attached it to my bowel.  I had to have an appendectomy druing the lap procedure.

DH also has slight MFI.  We have been TTC#2 for 1.5-2 years...cannot remember exactly how long though.  We tried 4 cycles of Clomid with no response.  Then finally went to see an RE and started with 2 injectable IUI cycles.  I made lots of eggs but had no luck getting pregnant.  The magic for us was IVF w/ICSI.  We were so reluctant to move in this direction but it worked the on the first try and we are cautiously expecting twins!

I am a SAHM with DS and LOVE IT!!!

Dx with severe endometriosis. DS#1 conceived with Met and TI. TTC#2 for 2.5 yrs. Dx 2nd IF. 4 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs, Finally IVF#1 w/ICSI worked for us! twins born 35w3d. Unexpected total hysterectomy 6/11. Now on the HRT train.

  • My name is Francisca

I have anovulatory cycles.  I was diagnosed pretty quickly when TTC#1 b/c I barely had a period and never O'd on my own according to my charts and OPK's.  I am very fortunate b/c Clomid worked for us both times (First time it took 2 cycles only and the second time it took 5 cycles).

We would love to have one more little one but after a really scary pregnancy and NICU stay my doctors have told me it is too risky to try again w/the risk of multiples.

  • I am MrsGabbs4Ed (aka: Gabrielle, Gabby or Gabbs).  I suspect that I may have had PCOS since puberty but it was never diagnosed (facial hair, irregular cycles, bad cystic acne, etc.)  I went on the pill when I was a teenager for almost 10 years and it helped control all those things.  I went off and got PG unexpectedly with my daughter (now 3 years old).  After she was born I went back on again and then came off when we TTC #2.  I got PG again immediately but had a m/c.  After that all the symptoms came back again. After almost a year I finally had the testing done at RMA, etc., hubby got tested, etc.  I did have PCOS and was put on Metformin and told to follow up in a few months to discuss treatment options.  Surprisingly and luckily we got PG on our own which was a relief.  I got my BFP the same week I was planning to go in for my follow up to discuss treatments.  I am very blessed and thankful that it happened the way it did.

I work as an HR Administrator/Benefits Coordinator in a non profit org. that provides services to the developmentally disabled population.

I have endometriosis and had to have my lef tovary and tube removed in 2005. Got pg no problem for my DD in 2006.  During my c/s, the dr. said that things didn't look good in there and #2 may be a problem.  He was right.

Started TTC#2 in Sept. 2008 and started working with an RE in Sept. 2009.  Went straight to IVF and finished my first cycle in January.  I got a BFP, but m/c.  Now we are going to try a FET before a fresh cycle in the summer.

I am a high school chemistry teacher and I love my job (well, most days).

  • Hi All,

    I'm Tess.

I got pg with my DS in my 3rd cycle off BC.  At 10 days post partum, I had a massive hemmorage.

We've been trying for #2 since February 2009.  I've lost 3 babies since then.

I just had surgery two weeks ago that removed a boat-load of scar tissue that my RE thinks may have been leftover from the hemmorage.  She thinks this is the reason for my miscarriages.

We start TTCing in the next few weeks after an SHG to be sure that everything healed correctly.

  • I'm shaunie!

DS was born in 2005, conceived with no issues. We started trying in summer 2007, and discover unexplained infertility: I check out pretty normal and DH's counts are great. We have seen 3 REs, and have tried during that time: clomid, femara, injectables, and IUI. We acheived 3 pregnancies but lost them all. We stopped treatment in November 2009, and are now focusing on adoption.

I'm a Residential Counsellor for teenage girls, but also spend a lot of time at home with DS.

  • I'm slsbride.

DD was born in September '07 with no intervention except progesterone supps.  We started TTC #2 in July '08 (when I was 36), and I had two m/c's.  RPL testing found nothing.  I finally saw the RE in March '09, and the battery of tests he ran found I had thyroid issues and MTHFR.  After starting thyroid meds, I got pregnant again.  I took lovenox for the MTHFR during my pregnancy, and finally got to hold #2 in my arms about 6 weeks ago.

  • We are just starting our 2IF journey.  We got pg with DS after 2 months, without problems or help.  This time started TTC #2 in Oct. 2008.  Had one m/c in July/Aug of 2009, but nothing since.  We met with OB in January and went on clomid and confimed that I was Oing.  I am tired of waiting and so we are meeting with the best RE in Cincy in about 3 weeks.  Hopefully he can figure out what's happening and get us pg.  Luckily our insurance covers unlimited medicated cycles, 6 ART cycles (3 of which can be IVF).  Hopefully with 6 cycles the RE can get us pg (and we can stay that way)!

And I am a working mommy.  I work with 401(k)s all day.

  • Hi Ladies,

I'm Lisa.  I'm the proud mommy of two boys who were conceived on our first try both time.  We are currently on our 12th cycle trying to conceive #3.  After begging for testing with my OB, I switched to a RE, where I have learned that my AMH level is 0.2 (TERRIBLE)!!  The rest of my levels were within normal range and DH's sample was perfect.

If I get another BFN this month, I will start injectibles with TI.  My drugs will be Bravelle+Menopur.  Insurance will cover my meds as long as we do TI.  They will not cover anything *artificial*  blah!

Good luck to everyone!  I try to get on the board as often as I can, but the boys keep me busy. :)
