I know it's kind of early, but it just came up with reference to tutoring. Our tutoring program just ended and it starts again in October so some ideas/changes were being discussed for next year. However, I mentioned that I'll most likely be on maternity leave around that time. It was no big deal. But, when should I formalize maternity leave. It's a little different working for a school because I figure I should do so before the summer since school starts again in late August and I'm due in October. Also, I want to bring up that I'd like to work over the summer if possible (to earn some extra cash). Should I just bring it all up at once after spring break since I'll be in my second trimester then?
Re: when do u bring up maternity leave at work?
You are probably right that it depends on the school. I told my work that I was pg at around 13-14 weeks. I didn't have a deadline to submit my maternity leave papers. It just had to be in and processed before I was planning on being out. I think I turned mine in about 3 weeks before I delivered. My baby was born Oct 4 and I came back to work Jan 4. In your case, I would bring it up all at once and definitely make sure everything is in place before school is out for the summer.
