PLEASE talk to me about your sleep training! What are you doing? I have like 5 different books on sleep training out from the library but don't have the time to read them! We do CIO at bedtime, which has been working very well, but I don't know how to handle it when DS wakes up at night.
Re: **Popcorn**
We're basically doing Ferber. Up until a couple of night's ago, LO went to bed perfectly. It was the night wakings that were killing us. She used to put her self to sleep from drowsy every night. Now she's crying when we put her down so we're going back every 5 minutes to soothe her (pacifier usually). Last night we did that for 30 minutes and she went to sleep from 8:30 to 2:00 hour. In the middle of the night she wakes alot. It's usually as simple as walking in her room, putting the paci back in her mouth, and walking out. It takes 30 seconds but it's exhausting when it's happening 5 or more times a night. On top of that she was being nursed at 2:30 every night.
So now what we're doing is letting her cry for 3-5 minutes when she wakes before we get out of bed. It she's still crying we go to her and soothe her without moving her out of the crib and walk back out. She usually goes right back to sleep with her paci but if she cries we let her go 5 minutes again. The most it's ever gone on is 30 minutes. It sucks because what used to be 30 seconds is now 30 minutes sometimes. I'm also soothing her instead of nursing her at 2:30. That seems to be going pretty good. Ultimately I worry that we have to wean her off the paci b/c it's her only way of soothing herself right now and if it falls out of her mouth and she can't find it, she wakes and cries.
We're also trying to re-wean her from the swaddle during all of this which is adding a layer of complexity but it needs to happen. Last night might have been a fluke but she did do much better.
Also, we always use white noise but we have it turned up as loud as possible now. It helps her and helps us b/c we dont hear and wake up to every single grunt she makes.
Good luck and page me if you have any questions...I can let you know how it's going for us.
