What age did you switch to size 3 diapers?

It seems SO early to be switching but I think it's time for Dylan.  Did yours always end up matching the weights, because he's still a few pounds off, but he's leaking through more and having more blow outs.  I guess I need to go return the stockpile of size 2s that I have.  He's growing up way too fast!
After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

  • I was just about to ask when to move up to 2's.  No blowouts but the 1's seem a little snug.

  • Mathis is in 4s at 10 mos. I don't remember when he moved up but it was quick. IMO diapers work better if they're a little big vs a little small. i mean, if you try and they seem to big you just keep them and try again. it's diaper size, there is no right or wrong.

  • I would say Tyler was around 3 months when we switched to size 3.  We were in size 2s the shortest amount of time.  The weight never matched for T.  When I started getting a lot of "up the back" or "out the side" blowouts I knew it was time to switch!  At 12 months we are in 4s and have been since T was about 6 months.

  • We usually go by weight.  Joseph is in a 5 or a 6 depending on the diaper.

  • Don't remember exactly, but Aiden was pretty young. He's been in 4's for a while now.  I'm thinking he was probably around 3-4 months or so for size 3.
  • I remember switching really early - I think around 3 or 4 months.  He wasn't even at the minimum pounds, yet, but he kept having blowouts, and i was tired of washing clothes!  lol.  He stayed in size 3s for a LONG time (b/c when they start solids, their BM gets more formed, so you don't have blowouts like you do when they are a newborn).  I think we just switched to 4s at around 10 months old.  So, he was in size 3s for like 7 months!  lol.  Oh well!
  • DD is still in size 1s at 4+ months old...

I think DS switched to 3s around 7 or 8 months.

  • It seems like Ally went from a NB size to 2!  We had one box of the size 1, but mid way through, it was too tight on her thighs, and she was still well within the weight range...  So I would go by the fit versus the range they recommend.

  • G was probably about 3 months old. Like pp we seemed to go from NB to 3's in about 5 minutes. I just switched him to 5's and he's almost 14 months old.

Holy moly, big boy! Natalie is still in 4s. I don't think we'll ever need to even move up to 5s.

  • DS2 is a big boy and in 2-3 right now... I wasn't ready to move out of Swaddlers!  DS1 moved to 3 around 3-4 months, but that was before the 2-3 existed (or that I was aware of).
  • We're in 2s right now and have been for a few weeks.  I expect we'll switch to 3s around months.
My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!

  • Since 2 months Embarrassed. About to move him to 4s. Neither of my kids followed the weight ranges of the diapers.

Nice to know I am not the only one with a giant for a child.

  • My 2 year old is still in size 3's.  She was around 12-14 months before she went up to a 3.  I doubt we will ever get to a 4.  She is little.
  • My 2-year old is in size 4s, and we probably made that switch maybe in the fall?  She's a peanut, though...and they still go halfway up her back.

  • I just switched to 3s today.  Earlier than you, but James is 99th percentile.
