Recommendations for places to have 1st birthday party

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for places or event room rentals for a first birthday party for my niece in July and DD in October.

Restaurants, parks, etc. anything would help.

I've been looking and not sure of some of the places for DD's birthday in October for probable weather problems.

TIA!

Re: Recommendations for places to have 1st birthday party

  • LOVE it we're October too and I saw on the ticker "only" 202 days until Max's 1st birthday and thought time to start planning too!!!!  No recs but I'd love to hear what others suggest.

  • I was in the same boat although we have already found our place. Have you looked at Parenting Magazine - the free ones at grocery store. They have local suggestions.
  • our LO's birthday is in July.   Which means HOT.  So a park is out.   IL's house is out (no A/C), our house is out (too small).

So we were thinking of just doing a day at the beach and having her party there.   Then when I spent the night in the ER last month, a lady I shared a room with (she'd brought her grandson in), gave me info on the beachhouse she rents out in San Clemente... so we may go that route.  We can either rent it for a full week for $1300 or just for the day for $185.   Not sure yet what we'll end up doing.

(the beach alone poses a problem because my dad had a stroke and is pretty handicapped and walking on uneven sand will be impossible)

  • B's party is three weeks from today (yikes!) and we are having it at Gymboree :)

  • LMBESQ: We really liked the Gymboree idea too, but I got the feel that this was more for only children from ages 1-5. But we're inviting both sides of our families and we have some children who are older than 5.

Did you hear anything regarding an age limit?

Staycee: My SIL was thinking about the beach too, but was afraid of possible weather issues. It's July and usually nice, but anything can happen with weather, etc.

We're looking at possibly inviting 100+ people (family, friends, etc,)

So my house, my mom's and IL's houses will not be able to fit everyone as well.

As of right now we're looking at Old Spaghetti Factory or Dave & Busters and renting a room from either of these places (possibly more into D & B's because of the games for kids and adults).

Plus MH has been asking me to look into possibly hiring a party planner and letting them know what we want and organizing everything. I'd rather we let someone else be running around and we enjoy our time celebrating.
