I've been on 9 units of Humulin that has been working well...in fact, I was up to 10, but kept getting too many bad lows, so we lowered to 9 as per nutritionist. Now my numbers at night are semi high...122, 128. Granted, maybe I'm not being AS cautious. When did you have to do the 2 shots? One in the AM and one at night?
Re: When Did you start 2 injections?
Sorry no real help in your question- just wanted to say wow, your lucky or maybe I was just that unlucky. I went from 2 weeks of trying to use diet as a control to doing 4 shots a daily. 1 at each meal and one before bed.
I can't remember what I started with units wise- it was around 8-10 but quickly went up to 15-20 at meals and at the end I was up to 27 at bedtime.
I'm hoping this time around I'm not so bad off though.
I was diagnosed last week and right away was put on 4 shots (before meals and bedtime) and the meal plan. My glucose numbers are lower, but not all of them are in range every day. There's always one that's a little high.
I felt fine before all of this but now I get hypoglycemic quicker or more often than ever before. So I set timers on my itouch to remind me to eat and test and inject so I don't miss anything.
I started with one shot of NPH at dinner time, I was at 17 units. Now I take one shot of NPH at Lunch-ish and that is 15 units and then bedtime is about 9 units of NPH now.
My fasting number is 60ish now, so I could take my bedtime dose down to 7 if I felt like it I think.
