Hi Ladies! Sorry for the random post, but I think I am going to buy a breast pump this weekend. We have a 15% off coupon for Babies R Us that expires on Sunday. I know its a bit early but I don't want to register for one and since I have the coupon now and will probably need future coupons for other big ticket items, I want to use it now.
I know I want a double electic pump (I plan on pumping when I return to work) but I want recommendations/suggestions. It looks like the Medela brand is very popular, but also more expensive. My sister in law has the Lansinoh double pump and she really likes it.
TIA!!!!
Laura
Re: Recommend your breast pump...
I got the Ameda Purely Yours which I think is the same as the Lansinoh (just a different name). I was very happy with it. I liked that it is a closed pumping system so you don't get condensation in the tubes (which I've heard happens wtih the Medela). Also, Ameda has great customer service. For some reason, my pump didn't work with just the batteries so I called them and they sent me a new motor within 2 days.

dear nate,
we are a lansinoh/ameda family too. my sil gave me hers, and i have passed it on to my girl friend for borrow use. my sil used hers heavily (no latch, so exclusive pump), i used mine a few times a day for the first six months or so and then about once a day thereafter. i dont know how much my girl friend will use it, since she just had the baby about a week ago. but i would venture to say that it is a workhorse.
caveat: i saw that target is carrying a newer model of the ameda/lansinoh now -- they havent carried any of the products for a while. this one is more modern looking than mine is, so i dont know how long it has been on the market and what the reviews are.
bump and pump,

Did I miss an announcement? Congratulations! I have the Medela Pump in Style Advanced backpack and like it a lot.

I have the Medela PIS and it was great for me.
HOWEVER!!!
If I were you, I would wait on a pump. You truly never know what your experience will be with BF until you get there and it might be that you need a hospital grade pump. Don't worry about the coupon - or use it to stock up on other stuff. You'll have so many coupons coming in when baby delivers you won't know what to do with them all.
Another Medela Pump in Style Advanced user here. I use it 4 times a day now that I'm at work and 4 - 5 times a week when I was on maternity leave. I'm happy with it. Just as an FYI, they make different flange sizes that can really impact how you pump. The standard ones come with the pump and you can try those and if they aren't working/comfortable you can go up/down in sizes.
I bought my pump before I had DS and am glad I did because I needed to pump the first night home due to latch issues (he got it eventually!). Like pp mentioned you can return if the box is unopened.
I have the Medela Pump in Style Advanced and I think it works well.
We went ahead and got one pre arrival as I knew I would be pumping at work. We left the box closed until we were ready to use it.
