back from Philly!

We made it :-) The drive both ways wasn't bad at all - not like our trip to OH over the holidays. We only stopped once and DS was fine in the car. The car was packed to the brim, though: one bag for me and four or five for DS.

Thanks so much for the advice on getting a second room - it was crucial. We had connecting rooms, a king bed and two queens. My mom and I slept in the queens and we set up the pack n' play in the other room (with the monitor). DS slept fairly well both nights, but there's no way he would have if we'd only had the one room (where would we have put him? the closet?). Definitely worth the extra expense.

We also cloth diapered more or less the whole trip, which worked out a lot better than I expected. DS is right in the middle of size 2s now but keeps leaking out of them (we only use sometimes when we're out or the CDs are in the laundry). So we decided to stick with cloth, and it was great!

The other thing that came in handy was my Moby wrap. I mentioned it in kastle's post, but up until recently DS kind of hated it. Now that he can face out, though, he likes it and it was really helpful when we were dragging bags up to the room or I was walking around the hotel/going to meetings to have him strapped on rather than carrying him. Two free hands! What a concept!

ETA: Uh, not that I was bringing DS to my work meetings or anything. Just some social events. But, man, was he ever a hit! All my coworkers are in love with him and my boss declared him "the cutest baby ever."
