Pack N Play questions

Went to register today. Was overwhelmed! Spent half an hour in the pack n play aisle alone, and still don't know what to get.

1) I'm planning on getting two arm's reach mini co sleepers for nighttime. So, do I also need two PnPs? We live in a two story house, so I imagine we'll want at least one PnP on the main level (bedrooms are upstairs). But, do I need two for the main level? I know the weight limit on the PnP bassinet is 15 lbs, so I imagine that having them nap together in there wouldn't be an option for long. (Is it even safe for both babies to nap together in the bassinet until they together reach the weight limit? If so, would it be safe for them to nap together in the play yard portion after that?) ???

2) Have any of you been unhappy with sagging in the bassinet? I read a lot of complaining about that in the reviews.

3) I've heard that PnPs aren't easy to travel with as they should be. True?

4) I also saw the baby bjorn travel crib. Has anybody tried this?

    1) I'm planning on getting two arm's reach mini co sleepers for nighttime. So, do I also need two PnPs? we only have one PNP downstairs and never used it for naps- they napped in the bouncy seats early on and lately have napped on the couch (i removed the back cushion and put the big ottomans in front) but soon will have to do naps in the cribs b/c they can roll/crawl more... i'm usually right there when they nap so it's not an issue yet.

i have another (small) PNP near the front door for when we're going in and out- but that's it.  I don't have one upstairs - when i need to contain them i put them in their cribs upstairs.  We also used the arms reach minis for them and loved them. We put plywood in them under the mattress to make the Angelcare monitor work better - so no complaints on sagging here.

we haven't traveled with the twins - only with Griffin. Once we had him in the PNP and it was no issue... the other time was only one night so he slept in the bed between us - king sized so had lots of room- even with twins it would work if they are old enough for it to be safe.

  • Lke Goldie, we also used 2 mini arms reach cosleepers and loved them.  We had one on each side of the bed and used them until they were close to 5 months.

We had a pack n play (Graco Catalina pattern) in our family room thet had the bassinet feature and I didnt notice sagging at all.  We took out the bassinet as soon as they hit the weight max.  We used the changing table fold down feature on the pack n play all of them time.  It was a back saver.

We now have 2 pack n plays.  We do not have one set up downstairs anymore.  My one son is actually sleeping in one in our bedroom (my other DS is in his room in his crib and my DH & I are in the guest room.  sounds ridiculous - I know.  but it is working right now.)

We have travelled with both and it is no problem.  We have a mini van so loading them up is easy and they are easy to fold up and down.  We only visit family so enough room is not an issue.  We have never stayed in a hotel room with 2 pack n plays.

Both co-sleepers were "hand me downs" from my sister and SIL and one of my pack n plays was also passed down from a friend.  I definitely recommend asking family and friends if they have any extras tucked away.  It saved us $100's.

ETA: I was also overwhelmed w/ registering (the bottle section stressed me!) I spent a lot of time on BRU online reading reviews so a lot was narrowed down before I got to the store.

  • We got the original co-sleeper and 1 pack n play.  The boys slept together next to me after coming home from the NICU until they were about 4 months old.  We used the PNP in the living room.  This actually worked out great for us because now we use both of them to travel.  The original co-sleeper is about the size of a PNP so when we travel each boy gets their own to sleep in.  I'm glad we went this route.

  • We onlu used one cosleeper for the boys.  If you go for the original not the mini they fit together for a while.
