  • Yes, we are using DD's old carseat, it's been stored in a box for over a year and smells stale.  But, we washed it the first time with DD as well.
  • I was going too but everyone has told me it is unnecessary.  I've been on a cleaning spree and freaking out so I think they are trying to make less work for me.
  • I was wondering the same thing!  I was leaning towards no?!?!

  • no.  It was covered in plastic when I got it,  I'm sure it's fine, I have enough things to do
  • For a new car seat you dont need too. I'm using the kids old car seat so I will wash it.
  • no, i won't be washing it.  i figure the baby is dressed while they're in the seat anyhow, so it's not like his skin is going to be on it and get irritated or anything.

  • I pretty much wash any fabric my kids come into contact with first, if I can.  I don't know what kind of things the company has sprayed into it to keep it looking nice. We will be with this one as well because it's hand-me-down.

This summer, you'll probably have the baby in with just a onesie or onesie and shorts a few times.

  • Yes, but I didn't with DD1 -- just washed it when it got dirty.

Since we're re-using our infant seat and it's been in storage, I washed the cover, along with the covers on the swing and bouncy seat.

  • when i went to a carseat safety class at my hospital they told us only to spot clean them, never wash them in the washer because they never fit as well and aren't as effective in a crash. i don't know how big of a difference it makes but i'm not going to, i'd rather be safe than sorry

  • I'm not, but my mom bought us a carseat cover, and I will probably wash that. If it's new, I cant see why you would really need to bother, baby is usually going to be dressed in a carseat anyway, so nothing to bother new skin, and I'd just slip a little receiving blanket under if I was worried.

  • nope. never crossed my mind.
  • yep. the carrier is borrowed from my sister and has been sitting in storage for a year... so i pulled the sucker apart and washed the fabric cover... and the hard plastic part got a wash and wipe down with clorox as well. But, if i was new, then heck no.
  • We washed it, it had  a really funky smell to it.
