UTI after D&C?

Just wondered if anyone else felt like this after their D&C - Whenever my bladder starts getting a little full I feel an achy feeling down there.  I don't know if my uterus is just sore from the procedure (would it even be sore?) and gets irritated by my bladder, or if I have a UTI now.  I am susceptible to them, but I'm taking antibiotics, so I'd think I wouldn't get one.

Also, I'm feeling cheated that season 3 of Dexter has got so much about his pregnant GF in it.  Seriously, I netflixed it because I wanted a break from all the baby stuff!

Re: UTI after D&C?

  • How long ago was your D&C?  I remember for about 2 weeks post D&C I felt like I had the start of a UTI while I urinated, but it wasn't.  You could ask your doctor to test you if you are worried about it.

I felt this way too. It was really weird because I've never had one before.

  • I did feel that way a little bit after my d&c but I'd never had a UTI (until today oddly enough) so I didn't know what to relate the feelings to. They make test strips in the feminine hygiene section that you pee on and will turn purple if you have a UTI.  But once I saw your post just now I did realize that I did have some of the same symptoms minus the burning I'm feeling now (sorry TMI) right after my d&c so it might just be a normal side effect. hope I helped a little!

  • My d&c was last friday (and a second one this past wednesday). I have had the same type of symptoms, got tested and it wasn't a uti. Not sure what it is, but it's getting better, so it must have been from the procedure.
  • Like the others I've thought it has felt kind of different down there too.  The way I would describe it is kind of dry & raw feeling.  I just assume it is 'healing' from the D&C.  I have my f/u appt this Wed so I'll see what the dr says.  Does anyone know if they do an internal exam at the f/u appt?
