Hey there! Yes, I went to my first support group meeting, but it wasn't directly related to Resolve. It was a support group organized through an IVF clinic in the area that I am considering moving to. I wanted to go so that I could get a better impression of the doctor that we are considering because the support group members typically talk about their own experience for a portion of the meetings without the doctor present, and I thought it would be a chance to get some candid impressions of him. The doctor also joins the group later, so I thought it would be another chance to determine whether we want to move to him.
This was my first support group of any kind, and I actually enjoyed it. They brought in an acupuncturist that specializes in fertility, so he talked to us about how acupuncture can be used in fertility treatment and then did a demonstration. The remainder of the meeting everyone went around and shared their story. Everyone was very supportive. It was nice because you also had a chance to get a sense for what the men are going through since many of the spouses attended. Overall, I enjoyed it and would consider going back if we end up choosing that doctor (which in all likelihood, we will).
I did Google our local Resolve group and am considering going to a meeting to check it out. Let me know what you decide.
I see you are planning on doing an IUI in April or May. Looks like we'll be cycle buddies (even though we'll have different treatments). I hope we both get lucky with this next cycle!
