TTC after 35

Why, oh why?

I am CD 12, started BCPs CD3 and started spotting today.....WTF?

I do not normally spot in-between cycles and the one time I did I had a polyp. I did feel like I had a cyst at the begining of the cycle and that pain is now gone. Can a cyst rupture and cause spotting? I feel like it's the start of AF. Of course this happens on Friday evening, so I can't call the RE until Mon morning.

I am so upset with my nether regions right now.

1 ectopic 3 m/c's prior to 5/05 Un-freaking-explained IF 5/05 IVF, BFN 9/05 FET 3d5e, BFP = Beautiful Baby Girl (lucky pg #5) 8/08 Fet 3d5e, cp 12/08 IVF with PGD, transfer 3, BFN 5/09 FET transfer 4, BFN Hail Mary IUI with Follistim 9/11 BFP; 9/22 confirmed tubal/MTX 4/10 FET 3d5e, BFP!!!! m/c 5/26/10 1 year break and yet another m/c 5/11 FET #5 initial beat 121, second beta 7 Lap and removal of L tube and very mild endo 7/11 Suprise BFP 12/11 & m/c @ 8 wks. After 11 losses and one beautiful miracle our journey is over, we are thankful and at peace.

Re: Why, oh why?

  • I'm sorry. I think spotting is a s/e of BCP so hopefully that is where it's coming from and not a polyp.

This. Spotting is definitely common on BCP.

  • That stinks!  I'm sure it's just a BCP side effect.  Good luck this cycle!

  • Darn the nether regions!
  • Big hugs.  I'm sorry you're spotting, I hope it all works out.
  • The first time I went on BC, whatever pills the doc put me on, I was having pretty significant spotting almost every 2 weeks. I read it can take awhile for your body to adjust, but when mine never did I went back and got a prescription for a different type of pill. No problems after that, so I'd second (or third or fourth) the advice of calling the doc. You probably just need a different pill with a slightly different hormone mix.

  • I had the same problem when I was on BCP last cycle, I called the IVF nurse and left a message on Friday night....on Monday she called and said proceed as normal.  they weren't concerned about the spotting at all.
