Hi,
We just started cereal tonight and followed the guidelines of 1 Tbsp mixed with 4 Tbsp of breastmilk and it was pretty much soup. DS did great with it. He seemed to like it, but it was pretty hard to feed him because it was so thin.
How long did you wait to thicken it up a bit? Did you do it gradually? Or is it just the first one they want it to be that thin because it's the first time.
Thanks!
Re: How soon did you start thickening LO's cereal?
Cullen won't eat it if it is soupy so we have had it pretty thick (like oatmeal) for about a month. He eats it like a champ and we have had no problems with choking. We did have some issues with constipation at first so follow up with Pedi if you have this issue.
FYI: before anyone flames that we have DS eating cereal via spoon at 2 months it was requested by our pedi since DS is a chunker (21 lbs currently) and eating more than 40 oz a day.
