Do you still BF LO in the middle of the night?
DS sleeps 7ish pm to 7 or 8 am, but still wakes up hungry between 4-5am (sometimes around 1 also). I nurse him for a few minutes and he goes back to sleep. He does wake up throughout the night and pop his paci back in his mouth without a fuss, so I feel like the time that he actually cries even when he's sucking on his paci he is legitimately hungry.
I've convinced myself that it's not so bad, and I just go back to sleep easily afterward. My only issue with it is I don't know when I'll ever know if it's not hunger and has become a control pattern that he needs to go back to sleep. Any advice?
ETA: We stopped cosleeping and moved LO to his own room at 6.5 months. Before that time he nursed several times each night.
Re: BFing mamas
this exactly!!
we are in the exact same boat- but he is really eating at his 3-4 am wakeup. I am just going with it- this one wakeup thing is soo much better than it used to be, and I am getting rested. I did however tell my H it is like clockwork and I don't know if he is ever going to break the pattern b/c he is sooo used to eating.
I am giving him until 1 to drop it- then I will night wean

DD sleeps from 8pm to 8am. She used to get up in the middle of the night to nurse. She eventually stopped waking up to nurse. I would leave her if she woke up and let her fuss a little until she fell back asleep. If she started to really cry then I'd go in.

IMO, if he is only BFing for a few minutes, he's not really hungry. If he was eating like normal, I'd say he's hungry for sure. Maybe try rocking him a few minutes or something else instead.
DD STTN 11 to 12 hours but now and then she will wake in the middle of the night crying. Depending on how she's crying (whining vs. full on crying), I'll either leave her be and she goes back to sleep or I'll go in there and pick her up. I haven't BF'd her in the middle of the night for months. Even when I pick her up in the middle of the night, I sit in the glider for 5 to 10 minutes with her and put her back in bed awake and she goes back to sleep on her own.
