1st Trimester

Calculating what week i'm in?

There seems to be confusion about what week i'm in in my pregnancy. The baby is 8 weeks old, but if I go by my LMP, I would be 10 weeks. Which one do you girls go by? I'd be happy to be considered 10 weeks! That could be why i'm starting to feel better already...

TIA and H&H 9 months to everyone Cool

  • you go by 10 weeks - great part is you get credit for those first two weeks - when you are looking at the 40 time line

  • Do you know when you O'd? I would take that and add 2 weeks (since doctors assume that everyone O's on cd14)

  • It is most accurate if you know when you ovulate.  Everything generic you see out there is going to be based on a Day 14 O.  Meanwhile, I O'd Day 19 --- almost a week later.  But any doctor who went by the date of my last period would have me a week further along than I actually am.

  • Congrats I just found out I was pregnant wednesday and just came from the doctors today they said it looks like I'm about 4 weeks and 3 days. I always was told they go by the lesser one but I may be wrong most I can say is go to the doctors and get a pelvic exam.

Yes, this exactly.  If you don't know, you go by the first day of your last period.

Yes! You have a BIG reason to be ecstatic!!!!

In my opinion, well more like personal experience, it's best to go off of your ultrasound measurements. I wasn't charting so I don't know the EXCACT day I o'd but I have a good idea. At my 1st appt. they went of of my LMP (of course) and got an EDD of 10/06. At first ultrasound baby was measuring at 7 weeks 1 day changing EDD to 10/14. at second ultrasound baby measured at 9 weeks 4 days....new EDD is 10/09. This LAST EDD makes the most sense to me, I O'd a little later, not much (3 days!) but enough NOT have an EDD based on a 14 day O. It doesn't matter really, the baby will not come on EDD (what, like a 6% chance of that???) but it IS nice to know what week you are in and what the baby is up to in there!

    Options:

    - O date (you add 2 weeks to it)

    - Ultrasound measurements

    - LMP (inaccurate for a lot of people)
