Am I crazy to take CDs on vacation?

We are going to Hawaii next week for 10 days.  We are renting a condo that has a washer and dryer.  I use Country Save detergent and thought I would just take a ziploc bag full.  Am I nuts to do this?

  • If you're nuts, I am too - that's what I'd do if I had room in my bag for the dipes

  • I've done it.  We've never traveled with anything else, actually!

  • I don't think so!  I would do the same thing.

  • I bring our CDs when we go to grandparents' / family houses, but DH requested that we use disposables when we stayed at a vacation home for four days a while back because he didn't want to take time out to wash. It was ok, but if it were going to be 10 days, I definitely would have brought the CDs. That's a lot of disposables, and with 10 days, the three hours to wash the CDs isn't a big deal.

  • Plus, everything is so expensive in HI! I bet disposables cost an arm and leg!

  • I don't pack cloth when we go somewhere via plane (they charge for every bag now!)  I try to do as little laundry/housework on vacation as possible and I would probably be annoyed at packing a whole suitcase of diapers.

To get around the cost of buying diapers in Hawaii check to see if you could have diapers from diapers.com shipped to the real estate office you are renting the condo through.  I had 7th Generation diapers shipped to our hotel in Orlando (along w/ some organic juice and snacks) and it made packing much easier!

  • We've been on 8 different 1-2 week trips with DD, all involving plane flights and one of which was to Hawaii (our family is all over), and we've *always* taken our CDs.  Having a W&D there makes it easy, and taking a little "packet" of detergent with you is perfect.  The diapers obviously take up room in the suitcase, but we've never had a problem!  Good luck, and HAVE FUN!!! :)

  • Not at all! I would have done this on our vacation, but there was shared laundry and I didn't want to have to worry about it. If we'd had a w/ d in our room I would have definitely brought them.
