strange noise in the house

I just can't figure out what the hell this noise is.  It sounds like those drum sticks that you use to 'air play'... it has that mechanical banging noise.  I thought the dog was laying on a toy- nope. DS is napping and it's not coming from his monitor... driving me crazy!

ETA: Figured it out!  One of ds books has a button to press and it 'sounds like' hammering.  Something must have been triggering it somehow.  Followed the noise and it took me to the bookshelf.  Damn book! I've been searching for the random noise for about 30 minutes now!

     Last night we kept hearing this faint sound like a toddler talking and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. We thought maybe the monitor wasn't working (we have really bad luck with monitors dying on us) but when we would go back to check on the kids they were both sleeping. Turns out we have a walkie talkie that's missing it's partner that Noel likes to play with because it makes beeps and static when he plays with it. He'd left it on buried in his toy chest and apparently someone in the neighborhood must have a set and their kids were babbling to each other over them. Drove me nuts (and mildly freaky) for a good half an hour though!

     Side note: I loved those drumsticks when I was a kid.
