stool softeners and gas x?

My dr. left me with instructions to continue taking senekot and gas x after I left the hospital. She never said to stop taking them . . . so I assume until my 6 week?

I stopped taking the gas x for like 2 days and I had the worst gas pain in my life. Just curious if you all had similar instructions.

I still take them, but only if I have problems going to the bathroom. Otherwise I stopped taking them last week.

With DD1 i didnt take anything for like after i had her. It was horrible cuz i hadnt gone to the bathroom that whole time or passed gas, i was dying!! then i took stool softeners and was in teh bathroom within 10 minutes and didnt stop for 2 days. with DD2 i took milk of magnesia in teh hospital once it took all day to pass gas then the next day when i went to take a shower i let the hot water run while i sat there and tried to go it worked like a charm took about 10 minutes but after that i was good to go.

I only took it as long as I was taking the pain killers. That is what was causing the constipation.

I only took them in the hospital. I haven't taken anythink but pain killers since, and I took those for a week or so after.

I never took gas x. I still take the stool softeners every once in a while, but not too often. Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't had to take anything for a week, now.

No instructions, but I've only taken one senekot since leaving the hospital. I am trying to be better about it...maybe you take it until it's no longer an issue??
