Postpartum Depression

Is it bad...

That I'm letting my daughter watch Ratatouille just so I can have a few minutes to breath?

Re: Is it bad...

  • If it is bad, then I'm a bad mom.

I know that there are better things for my LO to do than to watch television.  BUT, I am human and I take care of him by myself all day and night.  I need some down time too.  So, I do my best to keep him active when I can so that when I turn on Sprout or Barney, I don't feel guilty.

IMO, as long as your LO's television time is limited, don't worry about it.  Do your best to interact with her when you can and use TV only as needed.

(I hope that this came out as supportive and not all judgey.  This is something that I struggle with every day.  I wish that he didn't watch any television, but I'm not SuperMom.  He watches tv and I don't believe that I am harming him.)

  • I think that when you are dealing with PPD or even just regular mom stress, "whatever works" has to be your mantra sometimes.

DD is safe & entertained. Momma is getting a much needed respite.

I think even questioning if it's the right thing shows you are a caring mom. Happy mom, happy baby. We all need some time to recharge.
