High-Risk Pregnancy

Have GD but no info..

I was told yesterday that I have GD but I wasn't given any info. I go back next week to meet with the lady who is supposed to educate me on all of this but thats a whole week away. I've been taking my blood sugar(1st thing in the morning and then 2 hours after meals) but I don't know what the numbers supposed to be. I have just been using common sense as far as eating goes and trying to be really healthy but my levels keep jumping higher and I don't know if that's normal. Google has been no help. So basically I'm a little confused. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciatedSmile Thanks!!

Re: Have GD but no info..

  • Wow...you would think they would have given you a little info to get through the week. I was also at risk for GD but my test came back normal. The nurse told me normal range was around 135. Not sure if it goes by height and weight or not.You should try and look it up on Web M.D. If not I would try and call your doc to see if there are any precautions you should be taking until next week.Hope that helps. Good luck.

  • I just found out today too.  The nurse that called me told me that she would set up 2 appointments for me but not to play with the meter until I went to the doctor next week so they could explain everything then.  I'm sure you and I will see alot of each other over here as we learn and discover our next few months lifestyles changing.  Good luck with your appointments this week and welcome!  (Sorry, I'm not much help b/c I'm new too...)

I also had to wait a week after diagnosis to meet with the diabetic nurse. I'm glad they didn't give me a tester before I met with the nurse or I would have driven myself crazy.

I got this info from the diabetic nurse.

    Recommended values:

    Fasting (before breakfast): 70-95 mg/dl

    2 hours after the start of the meal: 90 - 120 mg/dl

    HTHs.
