High-Risk Pregnancy

Another insulin question.

Can you still inject insulin in your abdomen if you are pregnant?

Re: Another insulin question.

  • During my last pregnancy the diabetic nurses told me since I had 'extra meat' I could but they usually don't recommend it for women who are smaller (i.e. normal weight).

I weigh around 200 pounds (5 ft 2in height) so I do have room to inject (ha.ha.) I didn't do it but a few times though. I prefered my thighs (lots of extra meat there!)

Iwas told this as well- i am on a pump now, but i did ask because i wa curious, and sometimes have to take correction doses by injection if the pump for some reason messes up. they say you can do it almost anywhere with "extra meat" because its a subcutaneous(in the fat) injection.
