I think Nate liked it too! It is a great class and I really like the instructor Mary. She also teaches the Childbirth and Baby Care classes there.
It is two 1.5 hour classes (Fridays afternoon) We got a binder with pictures of the different massages as well as learned some exercises to do with baby. I am sure you could get a book or a DVD and figure it out yourself, but it was nice to sit in the room and learn with other mommies. It is for babies newborn to 6 months and the next session is April 9th & 16th from 1-2:30. They also have a mommy group that meets on Thursdays. 410-337-1880
The room is warm and you use olive oil to massage. Nate smelled a bit like a salad! Yum!
Re: Loved Infant Massage at St. Joe's Today!!
Just being nosey and wated to tell you how much I LOVE your new pic? is that from the photographer you told me about?
xoxoxo
just curious if there were any twins in your class and if so were both parents present?
thanks
Why yes, BB, that photo is from the pro pic lady! We ordered it in black and white and it looks fabulous in the frame I got. I need to AW those shots here...
I specifically asked about twins in the class and Mary said that you need to bring either daddy, grandma or a friend in. (I assume you may have to pay twice, but you can call and ask if they do two-fers) I spefically asked her if she would massage one twin while the mommy works on the other and she said it would be easier to teach the class with the baby doll than an actual baby. That baby doll is waaaay flexible and can do all sorts of moves!
Also, I am super pumped for tomorrow's class because they have asked a massage therpist in to give each of the mommies a 15 min. chair massage during the class! I cannot wait for this. I feel like I am in "perma-stoop" position all the time.
The massage class is once a month and it is two 1.5 hour sessions for 30 dollars. So the April dates are what the instructor told me would be the next session of two classes. Give them a call (See previous post for number) She will mail you a registration and directions for parking etc. (Parking is free) The phone number is for birthing classes, baby massage and Mothering Matters. I think they want you to give them a call before going to Mothering Matters too so they know to expect you. MM is at a church in Towson. Leave a message if you get the answering machine and they will call you back.
I did ask about twins and Mary said they would charge only once for the mommy-I thought that was super nice.
The mommy massage was very relaxing today.
