My review: Wee-cycle Harford/Cecil County

Last night was the new moms pre-sale for the Harford/Cecil County wee-cycle. We arrived about ten minutes before 7 to a very long line. I was under the impression from the website that if you donated food and the $5.00 charge would be dropped. That was not the case. My aunt and I were only looking for one or two items. A exerciser and maybe some pnp sheets. Some of the items were crazy expensive, I just overlooked them and headed right to the bouncy seats/exercisers. We found one, and proceeded to head to the check out area. A lady took me ahead of a ton of people, because I only had one item. Said volunteer was very rude to my aunt, acted like I should know exactly what to do. I had never been, so I was a little turned off by the rudeness. We got exactly what we needed and was in and out in 20 minutes. I doubt I'll attend again.

  • Thanks for the review Jen! I am still thinking of going to an upcoming one. Wonder what her problem was??

  • Just remember that most of the people working the sale are volunteers who are working to get a discount on stuff for their kids, so they are "doing time" so to speak. I doubt great customer service is their life ambition.

I would email them and let them know about your experience so they can remind their workers about being kind.

  • I heard it was really bad this year.  Like, things with clearance price tags from Target priced at 5x the price tag price.

Personally, I won't attend because of the $5 toll.  Harford Kids Consignment and Tot Swap are much better!

  • DH and I went too but didn't get there til about 8. They had very little for SD (size 5). That's not true, there was a lot of cute stuff, it was all overpriced. Like Lauranne said, Stuff said "retail price" on clothes that I know never go for retail and usually go for half that. There was a lot more for DS. Our big problem was the line. We waited for 45 mins. It was awful since we had DS with us. The deals weren't worth it in our opinions. We won't be going back (we went last year on the last day and they has nothing left).

  • Oh that's awful!  I'm sorry - I feel bad that you had such a bad experience since I talked up the Baltimore Co. sale! :(  They definitely did not have the same issues with pricing (retail vs. what they were charging at the sale) at the Baltimore Co. one... DH and I were verifying it on my BB as we were looking at things, in fact.  I would let them know about the volunteer's attitude, though - even though they ARE volunteers, they still need to treat others nicely!
  • I went to the one in Baltimore (Timonium).  We weren't very impressed either.  We got there early so we actually made it inside the building.  There was a volunteer that kept telling the group of us (DH & I plus about 6 other pairs) that we were extremely lucky to be inside instead of locked out waiting in the cold (it was about 30 some degrees with a NASTY wind chill that day).  When we finally got to go through at 6pm, there wasn't anything there that we found useful.  Doubt we'll go back.
