Babies on the Brain

Quick rant

When people complain at 37 weeks that they want to be induced because they are considered full term at that time it bugs me because your EDD can be 2 weeks off. If it's 2 weeks ahead then you are technically not full term and the baby has only had 35 weeks to develop.

end random rant.

Re: Quick rant

  • I was charting, I knew exactly what day I ovulated on and what day I probably conceived too. I never made it to 37 weeks but if I had I would've been complaining. LOL. I'm just hoping for an easier time next time.

Though if I have the same condition I may not get to 37 weeks next time either.

It's hard to tell people not to complain because yes, they should be glad they're full term, but it can be very uncomfortable for sure.

  • There are people who complain because they are uncomfortable and people who are actually serious. Some girl on 3rd tri was apparently talking about wanting to talk her doctor into inducing her at 37 weeks to avoid stretch marks.
  • 37 weeks? Complain all you want.

20 weeks, 25 weeks, 30 weeks? Shut the fcuk up and be happy your baby is still inside.

  • Just wait till you get there.  I didn't want to be induced at 37 weeks, but I would have jumped for joy if G wanted to show up then (and I knew exactly how far along I was as well).

ETA: I really do agree on the induction point, but I mean the being ready for baby to arrive...

Understood. And I get your point above that. I am sure I will be uncomfortable as hell, but I would rather deal with being uncomfortable for a few more weeks then having my baby spend time in NICU if she came too early.

Complaining at 37 weeks = understandable and practically a rite of passage of pregnancy.

Inducing at 37 weeks because of said discomfort = stupid and dangerous, and i hope there aren't physicians who will do this.  (Underlying medical conditions like pre-e are totally excepted from this rule.)

    Fred is wise, as usual.
