My Preemie is the size of a 5yo!

Emmy had her 3 years check up and she weighed 39 lbs and is 39 inch.  The Dr looked at the chart and she's the size of an average 5yo!  I always knew she was the same size and even bigger than some of my cousins that are 4 and 5, but when it was more official when the Dr says it.  Crazy!

    Wow, she's tall!  Maren was only 36" at her 3 year check up!  She was always short and the docs said that preemies tend to get their height last, so it wasn't surprising.  Sounds like Emmy is a little ahead of the curve!  Good for her!

    She's actually nearly exactly what Elena was at her 3 year appt -- she was 40 inches and 40 pounds.  I had more people thinking she was 5 and in absolute shock when I would say 3!

    The only downside is that people who assume she's 4 or 5 think she's "slow" because she doesn't talk like a 4 or 5 year old. Or people would ask if she's reading yet...  and so I have to let them know that she's turning 3 (well...now she's finally 3).

    Very true.  People expect more of them and treat them differently when they think they are older.  Can be a problem esp. on the playground when they think this Much.Older. Kid is picking on their little one when in fact they're the same age.  ahhh!
