Everytime I try to kiss DS on the mouth, he opens it, so I kiss his cheek. I will kiss on the mouth though when he is older. I was raised that way too. My family kisses DH on the cheek all the time and totally flips him out. Hee hee.

I usually kiss her cheeks and her neck to make her giggle. Her mouth is always open when I'm that close. lol. I don't think it's gross until the dc gets older. I have a great aunt who always tries to and I hate it! It's a running joke in our family now though.

I agree that when they are older it's kind of weird but I think it's fine before they start school.
I kiss him on his neck, cheeks and mouth...I love giving him juicy kisses and I'll continue to kiss him on the lips until he is older and it becomes weird.
we kiss DD on the mouth, cheeks, neck, feet, belly. she's just so kissable! my family never kissed on the mouth, but it feels so natural to kiss DD there. and she loves it, always laughs when you do it.
I don't kiss her on the mouth because she doesn't "get" kissing yet and just tries to eat my face. But I do still kiss my dad on the mouth, just a peck, that's the way I was raised too.
When I went to college at the University of Florida, a lot of the students came from the Miami area, where the primarily hispanic culture is this half hug and cheek kiss thing that to this day I still don't feel comfortable with and feel awkward about. And almost everyone in South Florida does it. I'm into real hugs...so strange how it can be so hard to adjust to a different culture than what you grew up with!
As an itty bitty baby, I'll kiss him everywhere, even on the mouth, although he tries to eat me. Does it really matter that much right now? It's not like he's "Eww, mooooom"-ing in front of his friends or whatever. We'll see when he gets older, but I was raised to kiss on the mouth. Latin american family and neighbourhood.
I kiss her on the lips now and I probably will until she is older. I guess I'll continue to kiss her on the lips until it starts to feel awkward for her or me. I work morning carpool duty at my school and I've noticed that the kids who get a kiss and an "I love you" or "Have a good day" from their parents are much happier children. Some parents kiss their child on the lips and some just give a peck on the cheek, but it still lets the child know they are loved.
Oh yeah, the children who get kisses, hugs and I love yous, are also some of my best behaved students (I am the music teacher and so I teach all the children in the school).
I think it's weird that people think it's weird or gross. It's your baby for goodness sakes! I kiss DS on the mouth, cheeks, head, feet, and tummy about a million times a day, he is just so kissable!

My family still kisses on the lips sometimes.

This.
I was raised in a very affectionate family, and I will be raising K like that also. To this day, there are times I kiss my mom and dad. *gasp*
So yes, Katelyn gets kisses on her cheeks, mouth, feet, and belly. I can't wait to get sloppy kisses from her when she's older.
Same! My husband and I both come from affectionate families and love it! Plus DD is just so cute and smoochable!
Totally this. She has started smiling and leaning when I say "give mommy kisses." kills me.
I kiss on the mouth. Still do with my 3 year old too. We probably always will, I also sometimes still kiss my parents on the lips.
I never really knew that some people thought this was weird until I started reading message boards.
