When did you deliver your singleton and when did you deliver your twins? I ask because I'm about 20 weeks and at the point where I'm getting super paranoid about PTL. Everything looks fine, per my MFM who I saw yesterday, and he thinks that the fact that I carried my son to full term (was induced at 40 weeks) is a good thing, although I know that anything can happen with pregnancy. I'm just looking to see what happened with other moms-- I'm nervous!
Re: Moms of Singletons then Twins
they always say having previous pg's go to term is a good sign that you'll go far with any other pg's (twins or not) but yeah, you just never know.
My singleton pg was great until 30 weeks- when i started getting kidney stones - then PTL at 32w... more stones at 34w... blood pressure started to rise and then at 36w when i had more stones and my bp going up more they decided to induce --- so Griffin was born at 36w2d.
My twin pg was totally uneventful - went great - i went to my scheduled c/s at 38w1d with no signs of labor at all.
I went into labor on my own w/ my singleton at 38w 5d.
I went into labor w/ the twins on my own at 36w 4d, which is "technically" pre-term (though I think 36w w/ twins isn't really considered that, it's pretty average). They were only 3 days shy of full term and had no issues at all.
Both of my pregnancies were pretty uneventful. No complications on either end. So, it's a good possibility that you'll sail through just fine!
I may be of no help since I had a C/S both times and never went into labor.
With my singleton son, he was breech from like 20 weeks on, so I had a scheduled C/S at 39.5 weeks.
With the twins, I had scheduled my CS for 38.5 weeks, but ended up having it at 37 weeks due to pre-e.
I showed no signs of labor what so ever with either pregnancy, and my OB said she thought I'd likely go past my due date with my first son anyway.
I went in to labor with DS#1 at 38w5d. My water broke and I delivered the twins at 35 weeks exactly.
I was induced with DS & DD at 38 and 39 weeks, respectively, both due to size. I was 2 cm dilated with DS for about a month, and for about 2 wks with DD.
I was induced at 35w6d with the twins due to low fluid on baby A.
Good luck!
well, i had DS at 29 weeks (no warning, no reason that we know of...ob says 'bad luck' idk) and we were so precautionary with this pg (17-p shots, leave at 24 weeks, etc.) and low and behold, 29 weeks 6 days i went into PTL with the Peanuts. UGH! i was given turb (did NOTHING) then transported to a hosp with a NICU (later found out no one thought we were going to make it...they thought delivery was inevitable) and put on mag for 3 days while given steroid shots for babies lungs. spent a total of 15 days in hosp and sent home on strict bedrest. now, i am a wonderful (uncomfy and definitely painful but PROUD) 36 weeks!
it definitely was scary when i went into ptl this pg but a miracle we were able to stop it!
I was induced with both of my boys after 40 weeks (don't remember exacts, but each were just a few days past 40w). They were 9 lbs. 2 oz. and 8 lbs. 14 oz.
I was induced with the girls also and had them at 37w6d.
with the twins i was i went into labor on my at 36 weeks and 5 days but was scheduled for my c section at 37 weeks.
With my singleton i was scheduled at 37 weeks as well because he measured 2 weeks ahead! I did have contractions starting at 36 weeks but they were not close enough to cause them to allow me to deliver!
