Postpartum Depression

I need advice.

I don't know where to begin.  I think I'm depressed.  Life is ridiculously hard for us right now.  DH has been laidoff for a year and is going back to school.  We think he got a job, but we won't find out for another week.  I teach, and our state cut the budget drastically.  I'm most likely losing my job, too.  I've only been back to teaching for two weeks, and I really don't think I can take it.

I used to love my job...literally LOVE it.  Now, I don't want to be away from DD.  The building is so tense b/c everyone's jobs are on the line.  Or they'll be doing something different next year.  The older ppl are guilty b/c they're refusing the buyout.  Its just tense.  I've been trying to let it slide off my back, but dammit...it's just not effing fair.  They're worried about insurance when I don't even have a chance to start my life.  Our savings is gone.  We probably won't have jobs.  Definitely forget about insurance.  We don't own a home.  We have a daughter...Yeah, I'm bitter that they're turning down thousands of dollars while I'm stuck w/ absolutely nothing.  And they don't even like their jobs or the kids.

So now I don't know who to go and see.  Do I go to my OB or family doctor?  I need to get some help w/ this.

Re: I need advice.

  • First off I'm so sorry for everything you are dealing with. That is a lot to happen all at once. I have some similar issues with my job right now and I can't imagine going through that with DH out of work as well.

I think the important thing is that you talk to someone, whoever makes you feel the most comfortable. My issues were very centered on my birth experience and baby so I felt most comfortable with my OB. Talk to someone with whom you feel you can be really honest and open. That is really the first step to feeling better. GL! :)

  • i'd talk to the dr you like best.  i also found a support group very helpful, and it was free!  see if you can find one in your area.
