Carriers for petite moms: Bjorn vs. Ergo?

My SIL suggested I register for an Ergo over a Bjorn - she thinks they are more comfortable. I haven't tried any in-person yet, but just wondering what you'd recommend. I want something both me and DH can use comfortably - I'm 5'2". Thanks!

  • I am also 5'2" and tried on the Ergo at Buy Buy Baby, it was really comfortable and I ended up registering for it.

  • I haven't tried either one yet, but from what I've researched, the ergo has gotten waaaaay better reviews.

  • We registered for the Ergo at BBB.  You can wear it on the front, back of side of you and it has much better ratings since the baby actually sits in the carrier as opposed to the bjorn which hangs the baby from his/her hip sockets.

  • We had the Infanimo Front 2 Back Carrier.(similar to Bjorn)  DD outgrew it at 11m.  It was never comfortable for me, it was for DH but difficult to adjust for both of us.  I got an Ergo in planning for baby #2 and Already love it and so does DD.  I wear her on my back for a couple hours at a time.  I would say go for the Ergo.

  • I'm 5'4'' and have received recs for the ergo!
  • We have both.  our daughter is kind of heavy for the Bjorn (15 lbs) at least for me... hubby hasnt complained yet.

I actually just purchased the Ergo in pink w/hearts  and I'm having second thoughts because altho I love the color I feel bad that hubby wont be able to use it. considering going back to the store for a more neutral color but totally on the fence about it.

  • I'm not petite but I can't rec the ergo highly enough! I'm 5'8" and dh is 6'2", no problems. It has a much longer window of usefulness, too, my 2 year old is still 15 pounds from the limit. I don't think most people use bjorn for more than the first few months bc it gets uncomfortable.

  • DH has a Bjorn... never used. He can't figure it out. (He also can't pronounce it but that's a different problem) I have no interest in it because it has backpack like straps that would go over/smush my breasts. I haven't tried the Ergo, but thumbs down for the Bjorn.

    I'm 5'0 and I use a Moby and a Hugamonkey sling.
