Recommend OB in the Troy/Rochester area?

Hello,

I'm new to thebump boards but wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a good (female) OB/GYN?  My fiance and I are getting married in May and want to start a family soon afterwards.  So I want to get established with a doctor I feel comfortable with before it becomes crucial!

 Thanks!

Laura

  • Some of us went to Oakland Macomb OBGYN but it is a practice of males and females and you rotate through all of them when you get pregnant but I see Dr Wallace (female) now that I am not pregnant anymore.

  • I really love Contemporary OBGYN in Rochester. It is a group practice, however, so that means you have to visit each doc at least once b/c each one wants to see you in case they are the ones on call when you go into labor. I originally wanted a female doc too, but I really like the males in the practice and feel comfortable with them now.

Dr. Reedy is actually the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Crittenton Hospital.

  • I go to Oakland Macomb as well.  Like Julie said- there are male and female doctors in the practice, so once you're pregnant you'll be rotated.  For your yearly exams, you can pick whoever.  They also have midwives, so if that's something you're interested in, the midwives are all female.

  • I see Dr.April Sarvis at Kingswood OBGYN. It's at Square Lake and Woodward. She saw me through my infertility, and I can't say enough wonderful things about her.
  • I used to see Dr. Faye Su (***-Yen Wu Su) in Rochester, and I LOVED her. We moved so unfortunately we couldn't stay with her, but her practice is wonderful. We also delivered at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, which has a BEAUTIFUL Mother/Baby and Labor/Delivery unit. Her office number is (248) 652-9666. She also works with a male OB, Dr. Morgan, but I only saw him twice (once while I was in the hospital and she was on vacation, and once when he assisted her with my c-section). He is also a wonderful doctor, very gentle and caring. HTH!

  • I see the midwives at OaklandMacombObGyn They are fantastic and through the birth of my first son so great.  I would highly recommend trying a midwife unless you think you will have extenuating circumstances where you will need surgery.  I am now pregnant with #2 and still love them.
  • I see Dr. Jaqulien Rodregiuz at Troy Beaumont.  She is part of the MGA OB group there.  I delivered my baby boy Feb. 13th and she made everything very comfortable for me!  She is so friendly and easy to talk to!  Good luck with your search!
