People can be totally rude!
Today I was walking out of BAM...I had Aubrey in her stroller and I was trying to hold the door open and push her out at the same time...this woman and her son came up to come inside the store and the son just squeezes between the stroller and the door frame and the mom doesn't even bother to get the door so I can get out of her way faster..then she heaved a big sigh like I was in her way...whatever lady!
Seriously what happened to manners..this is just one example I have experienced since having Aubrey and having to go out in public with her. It's a pet peeve of mine when parents don't teach their children to patiently wait until whoever comes out of the door or the elevator, etc. It's just plain rude in my opinion.
Re: You know what I have noticed since I have had a baby?
I would have been rude right back and told her she need not waste her time puffing at me and spend it teaching her kid to not be rude like her. I would probably have told her kid to hold on a second please too.
I know I sound rude myself but you wouldn't believe my friends that threaten their children with me b/c they don't make them mind and they know I do not tolerate rude children!
One time I was by myself carrying William in his carseat to go grab a buggy and this woman in her 40s with her two teenagers said "Take your time... really. We all have time to wait for you dragging your kid..."
I turned around and said "You're a cvnt" She looked very shocked.
I can't stand people who have such a lack of patience! Children who aren't taught manners turn into adults with no manners. There are so many people at work who rush onto the elevator without giving the people inside a chance to get off. It drives me crazy!
This is something that has frustrated me for many years!! My sister is severely disabled and in a wheelchair. We have dealt with the rudeness of others and impatience for years. It is very hard for me to bite my tongue when we are out. It used to bother me when little kids would stare at her, but now I realize they are just interested and trying to "figure her out."
For example, one day we went to Party City. We always have a vehicle with a wheelchair lift, so we have to have the parking spots with the blue gridded lines beside them to put the lift down. Well, while we were in the store, someone who didn't want to park far away parked on the blue gridded part!!! When we came out, we couldn't put the lift down to get her back into our car. We went back into the store and they called for the owner of the vehicle. Yep, a perfectly healthy young woman who got attitude with US!!!
Obviously some people just need to walk in others shoes...
sry you had to deal with this, candi!
I agree! People are rude....especially from the people you would think would be understanding (moms!).
Wow - that is horrible! I have never understood why able-bodied people think it's OK to park in a handicapped spot, but for her to give you attitude over it is really unforgiveable! People suck sometimes.
I have had that exact same thing happen to me!
I was in the post office when Jude was about 3 months old and it was very busy in there. Well there was a guy that was about 3 people ahead of me and he told me to skip him since I had the baby. I got so many looks after that. The interesting thing is he was Brazilian and he said that in his country they have always let the woman with children or elderly always go first. I love living in American and proud to be one, but we have lost so much respect and politeness.
