Visiting from Chicago with 17MO- suggestions?

Hi ladies!  We're coming to Sarasota and Bradenton at the end of the month for a week-long vacation.  MIL & SFIL have a 2BR rental by St. Armand's and my parents will be staying with friends in Bradenton.  We will be going back and forth between them.

I'm looking for any and all suggestions of places to eat, things to do with DS (he is 17MO), etc.

We will also be having at least 1 dinner without DS- so any suggestions for a fancy/ nice night-out restaurant would also be great!

Thanks!

  • You'll have a great time here! I am sure your LO will love the beach and park at Lido and you may want to go to the siesta key beach too. You can go to City Island park one day and play in the fountains, it's really pretty. All the restaurants on st. armands are great, for a nice dinner for just you 2 you may like the cork or crab and fin. Not on st. armands but close is Euphemia haye which is yummy and Harry's kitchen.

Go to Mote Marine too, its great and kids love it. You can take one of their boat tours which is fun ( my dad is the captain)

My LO is 20 months and we find lots to do here. I love just 15 min. from st. armands so if you have any other questions let me know!

Sorry I do not know too much about Bradenton but I know if you can visit Anna Maria and Cortez they are pretty fun!

  • Not sure about Bradenton either but there are plenty of things to do in Sarasota. For one... bring your stroller and walk the bridge! The walk from St. Armands, over the bridge and to the Marina Park (City Island Park) is wonderful and so pretty. Plus like the previous poster said you can stop and play at the playground and in the water fountains. Food suggestions depend on your budget. If you want more expensive stay on the circle. A good sports bar/restaurant is Gecko's bar and grill in the Landings. They have great prices and give you LOTS of food. Also, Salty Dog on Longboat Key is great for the view and the food! Gotta get the grouper sandwich, shrimp poppers, and their Jamaican jerk wings.

I think the strawberry festival is going on too. Here is a link to what is happening in the area that you can do with the little one.

  • Thanks!  That is a great calendar!!  Someone needs to do a similar service in Chicago!
