If my MIL doesn't STOP....vent

If my MIL doesn't stop telling me to "suck it in" I am going to lose it!  She is a very hard person to get along with anyway and always has something to say about something, anything, everything, but if she makes one more comment about my belly "just sticking out there" I'll flip.  Mind you, this woman has had three children of her own so obviously knows what its like to be pregnant.  She speaks before she thinks most of the time but come on!!!  Just shut your trap lady!  (end vent)  ***SIGH***

Re: If my MIL doesn't STOP....vent

  • I've learned that it's easy to say "suck it up" AFTER pregnancy (cause you forget about a lot of it).  Your almost there....just keep on ignoring her.

  • 1) You look beautiful!

    2) Time to come up with a snarky comeback for when she says it next time.

  • I would say something like, oh when you were pregnant was your stomach flat, just so she knows it bothers you.
  • Thats annoying, I think I would have said something the second time she said it...

  • I find comfort in knowing my MIL isn't the only one that's like this! Just tell her that lucky for you the baby will be out soon, but the only thing that's gonna help her is a facelift! LOL

  • Wow!  That is totally uncalled for you can't suck a baby in. Tell her she needs to suck it in!
  • She would have to have a super slim physique for me not to tell her to suck it in as well...maybe you can tell her she needs botox.
  • Just tell her that you are growing her grandchild and to leave you the F alone!
  • Um... "sucking it in" while pregnant is painful if not impossible.
  • Next time she says it say to her, "Maybe you should go suck yourself".   I PROMISE she'll never say it again.

  • WTF is she even talking about? It doesn't even make sense.

Personally, I'd come up with something rude to say back, and then if DH said anything to me about it, I'd say "At least, I have hormones as my excuse. What's her excuse for rudeness?"

No, it doesn't make ANY sense.  I don't get it either, its just being mean in my eyes.  Its not like she's saying something to try to be helpful and I'm taking it wrong, she is just flat out being rude.

As far as saying something rude back to her, I've tried that route.  We've been together eight years and it has been a rocky road (oooh...yummy LOL) with her the whole time.  Saying something would IMMEDIATELY turn into an argument and its just best to let it "slide."  This, however, does not mean that I wouldn't love to slap the woman over the head and say, "what were you thinking?"  LOL

Thanks for the support ladies...it definitely helps to vent a little bit.
